RUDY OWEN (Dallas, TX) I'm interested in knowing what has happened to Russ Reader. Russ owned Record Distributing Service in Houston during the 1970's, produced and managed Gene Watson, and released records on the RDS label. I had three records released on the RDS label. Three years ago a disc jockey in Bridgeport, TX said he thought Russ had passed away but wasn't sure. Any information you may have will be appreciated. Thank you. Rudy Owen

SCOTT HODGES (Shreveport, LA) Jim, I had just left KLIF and moved on to direct the news at KUUU Seattle. After a couple of years living on my boat in Shilshole Harbor, I moved on (to) manage the news at WOR-FM in New York. I've looked far and wide for Bruce Hughes but no luck. It's almost as if he just dropped off the globe. There was also Bob Richmond, Sam Lee and Ron McCallister. Wonder where those guys are now and what they're doing. Since you were at KLIF in '72, you'll remember the stink raised one Monday morning during the 5am news with Sam Lee when the part time disk jockey used the 'F' word so many times until he realized he'd taken his head set off before closing his mic. That's on tape on the web somewhere. I ran across it the other day while surfing Dallas Radio sites. Scott Hodges, CEO On Hold Marketing of America, LLC; Shreveport, LA 71118

JERRY MILLER [MUELLER] (Houston, TX)
To: Paul Long/Cc: Jim Rose. Subject: Chapman/Harrigan. Jerry Miller here. I worked at KLIF in 1961, 9am to noon, with your Dad, Joe Long. He was the best. However in your note to JRRR, you mentioned "Charlie and Harrigan". Actually it was "Murphy and Harrigan" as the originals, ie. Tom Murphy and Ralph Chapman. (Ron). They split in '62. I broke in Charlie Brown on the control board in '61 to take the PM Drive slot at KLIF in '61. He came to Dallas from Davenport, Iowa...and later teamed with the 'other' Harrigan, Paul Menard at KILT-Houston! I was there too, in sales! Both wound up in San Diego and I think are still there!

CHARLES GEORGE (Dallas, TX)
Hi, I was wondering whether Paxton Mills is still on the air anywhere. I enjoyed listening to him on KLIF 1190. I liked the comedy routine where a guy switches from a laid back hippie to a Boss Jock. Also the bit about WINO. I think both done by George Carlin. I find myself knowing I am getting old when I see a call for a station in a town that I know from the past here in the area. Charles George

BOB CROWLEY (DFW-Arlington, TX) Jim; I always get a smile when I see Mark Carillo's messages in JRRR. He and I worked at the same stations, together and seperately more times than I remember. I recall he was doing the SAC Show on KTSA on Sunday nights when I was babysitting the Trinity Show on KTFM. We both worked at KMAC/KISS. And I recall visiting with him at KONO/KITY during my third tour of Mission Broadcasting. I think we worked together at KLLS-FM. He worked at KSAQ after I did, and was the wedding dee-jay for my disastrous marriage to the then-KSAQ news director. I'm sure there are some other stations we have in common, but the years have dulled the memories. Those dull memories have led me to some errors, like adding an extra 'N' to Charlie Van's name, plus I think I got the name wrong of my co-worker at KITY who was to get morning drive. He went to KKYX, and I can't for the life of me remember the right name. I do remember he had a fantastic set of pipes. Plus, I think now it was mid-days that they put Johnny Shannon on when they moved him to KITY. I do remember Dick Porter, but not from KONO. He was Assistant City Secretary for the City of San Antonio when I worked with his daughter Kelly at WOAI. I remember the day I discovered they were related, and he said "I'm Sorry." Kelly was really something. She put up Megadeath posters at her news workstation at WOAI. I really enjoyed being around her. I worked with Couser at WOAI. He was just a salesman then, and I was a starry-eyed fan when ever I was around him. He was always one of my favorite personalities, and a genuine super human being. (Super-human might be the way to describe his schedule in the '70s, when he did mornings at KONO, taught at SAC and ran his own ad agency.) There's so much more to recall, but that's all water over the bridge Take care, Jim and keep those radio memories coming. Those were the days, my friend. Bob

SHIRLEY ROSE-REPASS (New Orleans-Mandeville, LA) Hi, Jim: Congratulations! This is great news! I am a little late getting the e-mail because I was out of town for a few days, but when I opened it this morning, I was thrilled. All of your hard work and dedication has paid off - not to mention your great memory of all of everyone! Also, thanks for the birthday card. I'll call you later this evening. Love, Shirley

TOM ASWELL (Baton Rouge-Denham Springs, LA) Awesome! By the way, I knew the answer to the Chuck Berry no. 1 trivia question because I have a chapter on Dave Bartholomew in my book and I had stumbled across that little factoid. Congratulations on the Cash Box link. Hope it works well for you.

TRIVIA ANSWER:
In 1981, the #1 Country Classic duet You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma is by David Frizzel (younger brother of Lefty Frizzel) and Shelly West (daughter of Dottie West). There are many great tunes that ring my chimes but that song really takes hold of me. It's such a wonderful song.

DAVID PERKINS (DFW, TX)
To all my friends, family and neighbors. I want to remind you that I will be preaching on the radio (KKGM-1630 in Dallas/Fort Worth) Sunday afternoon at 12:30 pm Central Time. If you're not in the DFW area you can listen live on the internet at
WWW.KKGMam.Com. You can also go to my website www.JesusChristSaid.Com and listen to past sermons. Love, David. The Jesus Christ Said Ministries

ALBERT EINSTEIN (1879-1955) I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
