WOODY ROBERTS (San Antonio, TX) Hello, hello, Jim. Your website is great. Your hard work much enjoyed and appreciated. Sorry have taken so long responding. --Trying to think of something to contribute. Ron Houston told me Mick Jagger was given $1M to write his autobiography. Gave it back. Apologized. Said he couldn’t remember anything. A lot of us have that problem. Right now I have to rely on clearer minds, like Don Couser and Sonny Melenderz, to call up our radio past. One thing I clearly recollect about San Antonio is little Brenda Powers broke Lee Babi’s heart. Haven’t seen Lee in thirty years. Lee Simms never slows down; I know, wherever he is, the Babi is standing at the fore of the 911 truth movement. I can see him working day and night to snap our long string of corrupt US presidents by electing Ron Paul. Best to all, Woody PS Media opinion: having closely analyzed 2008 campaign, so far, I think--although, Leno has some good points--Letterman will be a better president.

LESLIE WAYNE HODGES (Marshall, TX) Hi Jim, yes, I agree a good secretary is key to success. They are very important. They can see and hear what is coming right at me. The where, what and why I do not see coming right for me. I hope that made sense. Did you know it is no longer secretary day now it is administrative assistant day. Ba hum bug. Why not secretary day and leave it alone? I think April 23 should be called "Give me a break day"or "Give me a no Excedrin day" or "Let's stir up this day" instead. Les said is more. Leslie Wayne Hodges; Marshall, Texas 75672-5831

JAY WEAVER (D/FW-Hurst, TX) Hi Jim - Keep up the great work Jim! Your column is a happening thing!! I enjoyed seeing Rudy Owen's name in your column as a contributor of some comments about Lubbock, Texas back in the mid 60's. That is where my radio adventure began and his list of names were some of the "Who's Who" in Lubbock radio back then. I particularly remember KSEL Radio owned by the McAllister Family, who were the McLendon's of Lubbock. While I never worked at KSEL, I did manage to work for a couple of years across town at KSEL's main rival, KLBK. I have often wondered what became of some of those Lubbock voices, most of whom could have easily moved into one of the larger markets. Gene Price is a name I haven't heard in years and have often wondered what ever happened to him. He was a very talented radio personality. Another familiar name is Ron Beach (The Nightly Beach Party) as well as Jim Spann. KSEL was a slick operation with just enough of an adult touch of programming to keep the whole family interested in what they were doing. They had the usual line up of very good radio personalities, but also carried Paul Harvey and did several information programs during the morning broadcasting hours and the noon hour, along with editorials on a regular basis by the family patriarch, Mac McAllister. Jay Weaver, D/FW-Hurst, TX

PARRIS AFTON BONDS (Dallas, TX) Subject: Jim, how are you able to cover so thoroughly all the interesting news that rarely comes across our televison/computer screens or radio airwaves? Parris

BOB CROWLEY (DFW-Arlington, TX) Kudos to the 'Rose-Man' for the fine work for Cashbox. Content is useful and current, writing is snappy and brisk, and the format looks very professional. No criticism or suggestions. Just keep it up. Bob

TRIVIA ANSWER: England Dan's last name is Seals. Dan is the brother of Jim Seals of Seals & Crofts (Get Closer #6-1976), plus Dan is a cousin of Country singers Johnny Duncan (Thinkin' of A Rendezvous #1-1976), Troy Seals and Brady Seals. England Dan & John Ford Coley's 1976 hit I'd Really Love to See You Tonight reaches #2 in America. In 1979, England Dan & John Ford Coley pay a visit to my KULF-790 radio show here in Houston, TX. Mighty fine folks.

JENNIFER VIHARO (Atlantic City-Pittsgrove, NJ) An Important Date. I know you are a history buff, so the subject date and the following facts should be of interest. July 8, 1947 Many of you will recall that on July 8, 1947--some 60 years ago, witnesses claim that an unidentified flying object (UFO) with five aliens aboard crashed onto a sheep and cattle ranch just outside of Roswell, New Mexico. This is a well-known incident that many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and other federal Agencies and organizations. However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of March 1948, nine months after that historic day, the following people were born: a.. Albert A. Gore, Jr. b.. Hillary Rodham c.. John F. Kerry d.. William J. Clinton e... Howard Dean f.. Nancy Pelosi g.. Dianne Feinstein h.. Charles E. Schumer i.. Barbara Boxer See what happens when aliens breed with sheep? I certainly hope this bit of information clears up a lot of things for you. It did for me.

TEDDY ROOSEVELT (1858-1919) Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.
