ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS
FRIDAY THE 13TH IS HERE! ALSO HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
WHERE IS LAURA INGRAHAM?
For the past few days Conservative Talk host Laura Ingraham is not on her Talk Radio Network-syndicated show. We wonder what is going on? Some say that it's a contract dispute. Another report is about her health. The 45 year old Foxy Lady has a response: Due to contractual obligations, for the present time I am unable to reveal why I am not currently hosting The Laura Ingraham Show. Rest assured, this absence is not of my choosing, nor is it health or family related. I am ready, willing and eager to continue the conversation we started seven years ago about politics and the culture. (Heck, if cancer couldn't keep me off the airwaves for long, nothing will.) Keep checking the site for a schedule of my appearances on the Fox News Channel. All queries regarding my on-air status should be directed to Talk Radio Network's management at 541 474 2297 or send an email. Thanks for sticking with me, and...Power to the People! This is from Laura's Web site: Just In...Laura To Host New Show On Fox - Tune in Monday at 5 pm to "Just In with Laura Ingraham." Let the games begin! You can catch her on the Ingraham Angle segment on the O'Reilly Factor...Friday, June 13th and Friday June 20th at 8pm and 11pm ET. Be sure to tune in!
TRIVIA QUESTION: What is Dolly Parton's middle name? The answer appears below.
WANT A NEW JOAN JETT GUITAR?
Legendary guitar manufacturer Gibson announces the new Joan Jett signature Melody Maker guitar that duplicates the guitar that Joan plays on her first record to hit the charts in 1982 and lands at #1, I Love Rock and Roll. The Rock'n'Roller sells over a million copies of that single. Joan issues a statement, This is my guitar. Gibson was successfully able to replicate my custom velvet hammer pick ups which have not been available for twenty years. It's perfect for gigs as well as recording. For those of you performing live, you may understand the value of being able to shave off those split seconds between playing and interacting with the audience, especially if you use your hands to communicate. I can move between the killswitch, which mutes the guitar, and playing, and then back again without a lot of in-between motion. With its no frills basic set up, it's a perfect guitar for either an experienced player or someone just learning. For guitar afficianatos the new Joan Jett Gibson Melody Maker features the same specs as Joan's original guitar.
NFL HEADS TO LONDON
The NFL's second regular-season game between the San Diego Chargers and the New Orleans Saints on October 26, 3008 at Wembley Stadium is telecast live on one of the BBC's main channels, BBC Two. Then after two hours it switches over to BBC Three which is a digital channel. BBC Two also has late-night game highlights. In May, the first 40,000 tickets to the Chargers-Saints game sell out in 90 minutes. The NFL says it plays at least one game in the UK during each of the next three seasons. The live telecast of the first regular-season NFL game to play outside North America between the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins broadcasts on the satellite subscription channel Sky Sports.

JERRY MILLER [MUELLER] (Houston, TX) Hey, Jim! Jerry Mueller here. Can you find out more about the passing of Mike Scott, as per Walt H.? I hired Mike as a weekend DJ when I was PD at KONO, SA in '59! Real name is Brunis Belisle, he was a 'boot' PFC from Lackland Air Force Base, born in Cajun Country, LA. I also worked with him at KNUZ and again later at KILT when he was part of H&H for a short time, then in Sales at KILT too, for a while! Tookie and kids are where?
WALTER HAMMOCK (Houston, TX) Harold called this morning and he is trying to get more details. Tell Jerry I don't have anymore info @ this point but we are trying to find out.
JOE FORD (Houston-Spring, TX) Very sad to hear of Mike Scott's passing. I knew he was ill but, man, that was swift! I'll always remember him as a good guy, a lot of love for broadcasting, swapping ideas when he was at KLIF...we would call each other on the air and do insane bs...worked with him on several voice jobs across the country as we both searched for the perfect market, etc. He was a great talent.
BARRY KILGORE (Houston-Conroe, TX) Sad news to hear about Mike Scott's passing. I knew him from the KNUZ/KQUE days. If I remember correctly (sometimes that memory is getting suspect because I turn 60 in September) I replaced him on KNUZ in the 80's where I did mornings for a few years, then replaced him in the afternoon slot at KQUE. When he was leaving KQUE he told me, "Stop following me!".
DR. BRUCE NELSON (Corpus Christi, TX) Sad news about Mike Scott (Uncle Scotty) He worked with me at KNUZ before moving over to KQUE. He was a true gentleman whose resume included lots of call letters us "Oldies" would remember in addition to his long tenure in Houston radio. Dr. Bruce KFTX CC

RAY WHITWORTH (D/FW-Arlington, TX) Hi Jim: I just wanted to add to the chorus of Bud Buschardt and Jim Weaver about the "Retro Radio" on KMNY 1360 in the DFW area and streamed on Thehificlub.net website. It's Mike Shannon's baby and it give us veterans a chance to do "real radio", CONsultant and commercial free. Jim Thomas is back to doing 70's on saturday afternoons and John Lewis (who used to be on KXOL 1360) plays traditional Jazz when Jim has to be away. Randy Carlisle also plays "Real Oldies" from the 40's to 1969 rounded off with Chad Hoker doing morning drive playing cuts from the 80's and a replay on mid mornings, plus the rest is Real (not repetitious) classic rock. Mike hosts the Hi Fi Club on sundays at 12noon and I come over across the parking lot from KKGM (where I do sunday mornings )and help him co-host it. In addtion, all of "Retro Radio" 1360's jingle packages, sweepers, bumpers are Produced by Doyle King, Jim Thomas, and myself. We did them for free due to our love and passion for "REAL "radio. No one is getting paid for any on air work. (not much different than today's radio in that respect
DR JEFF CUNNINGHAM (Austin-Kyle, TX) Subject: Jim Rose Remembers Radio (#512-40) June 04, 2008 [Wednesday] Hey, at least Depp kept his word. The others promised to leave and then didn't. That makes them lying sonovaguns to me. Jeff Cunningham, DC Kyle, TX (www.zoesplaceclinic.com) (www.myspace.com/drjeffcunningham)

BLAKE LINDSAY (DFW-Addison, TX) Hi Jim! It worked perfectly well for me. I read your good stuff, at around one PM today. I'm real happy you are willing to keep crankin' those out for us. I still recommend you request a sixty dollar annual sign up fee from all of us July first. Mid year or the top of the year, would be good timing I think. If you got a few hundred people to send in our sixty, five bucks a month, that would sure give you some well deserved compensation. Thanks for caring if your link worked for me Jim. Your Friend, Blake (www.blazinblake.com)
OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES (1809-1894) To obtain a man's opinion of you, make him mad.
