HANNITY SIGNS THROUGH 2012

The Daily News reports that Sean Hannity signs a new multiyear, multimillion-dollar contract with Fox News Channel that keeps him onboard FNC through the next presidential election. Sean hosts both Hannity & Colmes and Hannity's America. He says I'll be honest, I'm just glad to be on the air having an opportunity to get my voice out there. When I started my career, I never got into it for fame, fortune or money. My first professional job was for $19,000 a year. I stayed in it because I really loved it. FNC is the most watched cable news channel in America for more than six years and is available in more than 90 million homes. News Corporation owns FNC. In summer 2008, Sean signs a radio deal for $100 million that lasts over five years. Hannity hosts The Sean Hannity Show on ABC Radio Network. Its syndication runs to more than 500 radio stations in all of the top 50 markets with 13.5 million anxious fans.

JOYCE WEBSTER (Mena, AR) Jim, I want to ask you how things are going as far as the recovery down that way. Other things have kept most news coverage nationally off of the damage down that way. Someone sent me some horrific photos of the Galveston area thru the internet. My older kids used to go there pretty regularly with their dad. I never spent much time in that area at all. I did have a wonderful short vacation once at Padre Island after a business meeting that took place in Houston. I don't know if I've heard anything about Padre...just thought about it this morning. I'm assuming that life in Houston is getting pretty much back to normal for most people.

JENNIFER BROOKINS-VIHARO (Atlantic City-Pittsgrove, NJ) Jim, Hi kiddo – I’m so happy to see this. There is no reason why you couldn’t start charging for subscriptions? Have you thought of this? Anyway – I ‘ve been away for quite some time and your good news greeted me. Your friend, Jen…and hey! Love to my best gal Tejas

TRIVIA ANSWER: The two female singers in the Seattle, WA Rock band Heart are singer Ann Wilson and her sister Nancy on the guitar and keyboards. It's a family affair because brothers Roger and Mike Fisher are guitarists in the group.

BOBBY REYES (San Antonio, TX)
Hey there Jim...your articles are most interesting to read and I truly appreciate your work on this...don't know if you were aware of the huge renovation performed many years ago at the 222 building...where as woai was facing Spencer Lane, 'oai is in the n.e. corner and facing IH-10, which is cool so you can see what's goin' on outside in the real world...kaja is down the hall on the n.w. corner of the building...in between is kmmx (mix 96.1 ), a few offices for kaja, mix 96, a couple more offices for p.d. types, the main studio for 'oai and the talk show segments are within viewing distance...as you walk back down the hall is another studio for news people types to do news segments...keep on going down the hallway is the talk studio for ktkr, ticket 760, then the main control room for the ticket (remember the photo I sent you of MOI sittin' on the bar stool?)...after that is the office for our p.d. ('oai and the ticket )...Peter Bolger is his name...then there is the space for the total traffic network with about four or five work stations for people who do traffic for the stations...turn the corner there is the main control room for krpt (92.5, the outlaw...Texas flavored country music)...where we also do some high school football broadcasts and Texas Tech...keep going down the hall is a production studio, Phil Lowry's production room (Phil's alter ego is Hank T. Moon and he is the primary voice on the outlaw as the entire station is automated)...down the hall are more production studios, going back up the hall in the opposite side of the building (west side) is another production studio and THEN our new tenant, KZEP (formally the old kexl) our classic rock station...b-t-w, the kzep studio used to be KSJL...but that station is history...KQXT (Q101.9) is next up the hall, a small office and then kaja's studio...all stations are hooked into a system where you dial it up and you can get everything that's wired up in the building, it's also where we dial up satellite receivers, isdn, comrex hotline and zephyr telephone lines and a whole bunch of inputs too numerous to mention... there are more areas in between all of this for the news department and another space for what we call producers row...office cubicles for people who work for the different stations...the first floor is sales people, g.m., promotions department, traffic (building program logs and stuff) and other goodies like the Sprint lounge where we have a small and intimate stage for music artists to come in and perform for selected listeners and for the building staff...it's really neat! and most innovating for us to have this feature...there is so much more in the building it's hard to relate...but the BIG rumor is that clear channel wants to move everything to their corporate office area in the Stone Oak area on Loop 1604 and highway 281...yuk, I am NOT going to like having to deal with the long and crazy drive up there! ...as it is, right now I am only less that 10 minutes away from the 222 building...eeek, looks like I might retire some day...that's it for now Jim, I'm gettin' fatigued working on this but again I really enjoy the service you provide for all us radio types and hope you can continue this neat feature you have...all the best and I'll touch base w/you again! Bobby R.

DANIEL DEFOE (April 26, 1660-1731) It is better to have a lion at the head of an army of sheep, than a sheep at the head of an army of lions.
