FILM STAR'S DOGGIE DIES
Movie actor Mickey Rourke's cherished and faithful Chihuahua Loki passes away this week at 17. Mickey takes Loki with him just about everywhere and that includes the red carpet in September 2008 at the Venice Film Festival to promote his latest movie The Wrestler. Rourke says that his sweet doggie spends her last moments in his arms, Loki is deeply missed but with me in spirit. I am very blessed she fell asleep peacefully in my arms. Loki is 17 when she dies around 5 am Tuesday, February 17, 2009. I sort of self-destructed and everything came out about fourteen years ago or so...the wife had left, the career was over, the money was not an ounce. The dogs were there when no one else was there. Loki's daddy Beau Jack dies in 2002. We doggie lovers definitely know the trauma that Mickey Rourke goes through in the loss of his little friend Loki.

WHERE DO YOU READ JRRR? Tell us how far away from Houston, TX that you read JRRR. Send your full name, city, state and country of residence to rosekkkj@earthlink.net.
JAY WEAVER (D/FW-Hurst, TX) Subject: The Other Ron Rice. The other Ron Rice was nicely "covered" by David Perkins a few issues back. He worked with David at KBUY in Fort Worth for a few years and from there went to KPRC in Houston to do the all night show. He stayed at KPRC until 1979 and left to pursue other interests. In the late 90's he went to work as new home salesman in Houston where he makes his living today. He and his wife, Jeri, have four beautiful daughters. I'm proud to say that just last week Ron and Jeri spent the night at our house with me and my wife, Rhonda and the rest of my family, on their way to (driving their new motor home) up to Lake Texoma for some leisure time with some of their families. Ron looks great and sounds as good as he ever has even though he said "good-bye" to radio 30 years ago.
BOB CROWLEY (D/FW-Arlington, TX) Jim; I remember Jay Thomas from my early days at KLOL (1973-74). I encountered him again at KPEZ in Austin in the early '90s. He came in as a part timer. He contacted me again in 1998 about creating a new station for Houston, at 97.1 FM. We put together some ideas, but before his people could nail down the frequency, Steve Hicks and Capstar swooped in and snapped it up. I always enjoyed Jay. I'm not sure what's become of him since, but I presume he's still living in Austin. BTW- I was walking home from the tire store the other day, and took a short cut past the back of the Arlington Re-Sale shop. They had put several boxes of 8-track tapes by the back door. I asked the woman what they were going to do with them. She said they were going to the dumpster. I asked if I could have them. She said yes. So I took them home. 100 tapes, including a bunch of Willie Nelson, some Chet Atkins, and at least one Barry Manilow. I've never had an 8 track player, but what the heck. In the box I also found a pneumatic grinder and a roll of shrink wrap. I guess if I get tired of them, I can always wrap them in plastic then grind them up... bc

JERRY LEE LEWIS is a prima donna is what I hear but when he comes to Randy's Rodeo in San Antonio in 1969 when I'm PD/MD/PM Drive DJ on KBUC FM-AM, during his break he treats me like royalty. Like we are long lost friends. The SAPD photographer snaps a photo of Jerry Lee Lewis with his arm around my shoulders. Another time he quickly enters the KBUC reception area. I see him and wave him on into the KBUC control room. We finish out the rest of my show as we talk back and forth like we are good ole buddies. So my impression of Jerry Lee Lewis is that he is a great guy plus I love every song he ever records. Clarence Frogman Henry's big hit I'm Just A Lonely Frog is one of my all time favorites that I instantly love the first time that I hear it on KLIF-1190. Never dream that one day I will also be on the Mighty 11-90 in my home town - Dallas, TX. Phil Phillips' Sea of Love still mesmerizes my soul as one of my all time favorites. Jean Knight's Mr. Big Stuff, Percy Sledge's When A Man Loves A Woman, plus the rest of the great recording artists never will leave my memories. When I'm a DJ on 50,000 watt clear channel WFAA-820 in Dallas, TX from 1967-68 it is my happy privilege to air John Fred and the Playboys Rocker Judy In Disguise (With Diamonds). These are wonderful memories of what radio used to be and still can be. I'm ready, anxious and very willing.

MIKE HARTMAN (Ft. Worth-Joshua, TX) Hey Jim...Congratulations on the results of your biopsy. I had one several years ago. The Dr. removed nine plugs from my prostate by the time he got to number six, I was telling him how many he had to go. And, like yours, thank God, there was no cancer. Take care of yourself. Don't sit on any rocks. Lol. Mike
