CLAIRE WEST PARR claireparr@aol.com Jim - I am in the industry so I appreciate deadlines. I've attached the obituary. You are free to use my email and my brother's is swestdover@verizon.net. My brother is on an airplane flying here with his family so he is unable to respond. I have a funeral to plan, my family in grief, and hundreds of emails to address. I appreciate the coverage - I know my father would be proud and pleased. Hopefully you can work with this. Right now - my priority is dealing with my family. Thank you. My father was an amazing and incredible man...he lived life to the fullest and battled his illnesses with humor and grace. I am saddened by his death - but comforted to know that he is finally with my mother now....we do appreciate it. Best, Claire West Parr
JIM TRAVIS [Jo] (Hot Springs, AR) Hey Jim, I've been reading about Gene Thomas. Do you know of a spot on the net where I can go to hear his song "Sometimes"? It's a song I have not even thought about in years. It used to be my favorite in another life. W.W. (www.JimWWTravis.com)
TEXAS RADIO HALL OF FAME The TRHoF induction ceremonies in October 2004 are in San Antonio, TX. It is my esteem pleasure that the lovely radio legend Jo Interrante helps locate my TRHoF ID badge on the table that is full of those badges of courage which should be red in color. She even pins it to my chest. Such a pleasant event that I do not even feel the pain of the pin. At our small table are TX radio legends: Al Lurie (KLIF-1190 GM) and wife, Chet Maxwell (KBOX-1480 GM), Ron Chapman (KLIF-1190 premier co-host of the Charley and Harrigan show) and wife and me (list of TX radio stations is way too long for this tiny space.) Some of the inductees in the 2004 TRHoF are the various members of the Charley and Harrigan morning team show on the Mighty 1190 KLIF. Because of so many awards and speeches Ron has to leave our table several times. Dan McCurdy is one of the Charley and Harrigan show air personalities who appears on stage to receive his plaque of honor.
DAN MCCURDY (Sherman, TX) Dang, Jim...I sure would like to have met you (Texas Radio Hall of Fame October 2004)...BTW, Al Lurie has been a good friend for a number of years...haven't heard of him/from him in quite a while...he and his wife Shirley moved to Hot Springs Village, AR, many years ago...hooked up with another couple I was very close to who also had moved there. Of course, Chet Maxwell was associated with KBOX for many years, then several other stations. Maybe we'll meet someday...I hope so... Dan McCurdy, Texas Radio Hall of Fame inductee 2004, KLIF, KBOX-Dallas, WMEX-Boston

My first few cars only had AM,,,that was fine with me,,,later Richard Tillery
TRIVIA ANSWER: The original title of Frankie Valli's My Eyes Adored You is Blue Eyes in Georgia but he changes the title during the recording session.
VICKY PICKERING (Houston, TX) In the 1990s I won a dinner with Barry Kilgore and Cindy Kasparian at a steak house in Houston for the people in the office where I worked. We all had a nice visit and a great lunch. I still have the photo we made that day. When my husband, John and brother Bill Pickering were recording as The Pickering Brothers in 1969 - 1973, they met Gene Thomas and enjoyed knowing him. In 1957, when John and Bill were recording as The Picks (the voices of the Crickets) on Buddy Holly solos, they met Roy Orbison and his young wife, Claudette in Clovis, NM at the Norman Petty Recording Studio. Buddy recorded 2 of Roy's songs and The Picks overdubbed vocal harmonies on them. Roy and Claudette had come up from Odessa on their motorcycle. The songs were "You've Got Love" and "An Empty Cup (A Broken Date)". Lots of good memories. Vicky Pickering; Houston, TX USA (www.buddyhollyandthepicks.com)
MARGARET THATCHER (October 13, 1925-p) To cure the British disease with socialism was like trying to cure leukemia with leeches.
