BRITISH PUB OPENS IN THE ALAMO CITY
The Lion & Rose, a British-style pub franchise with its base in San Antonio, opens its newest location in March 2009 in the Forum Shopping Center near Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 just north of the city. We might ask why a new business opens in times like these. Allan Tharp, President/CEO of the Lion & Rose, affirms We’re still a young franchise. Our newest store at the Forum will be our fourth location in San Antonio (and) we expect our fifth and sixth locations within two years. In 2008, the area chapter of the U.S. Local Business Association company gives the Lion & Rose its Best of San Antonio Award. The 5418 Broadway location is the first Lion & Rose pub to open in 2004.

TOM CAT REEDER (Washington, D.C./Reston-Centreville, VA) Hey Jim...Thanks for your reply to my e-mail. Our 'ol friend Robert Hanger told me about you. We worked many shows together over the years. He’s a great friend. Jim, I have so many stories, I really don't know where to start. I'll try to give you one this time. In 1958 in Mobile, Ala. at WABB radio...I sat on a telephone pole for seven days and did my radio show promoting Jerry Lee Lewis (We had booked him into our night club - Radio Ranch. The club held 1000 people. He packed it three times and we had to turn people away. That's when most other Disc Jockeys refuse to play his records. He's never forgotten that. Ask him now. He still remembers it. If you care to hear more...please advise. Thanks Jim. Tom 'Cat'

GEORGE LESTER (Palestine-Elkhart, TX) Please click on the link below for Hank Locklin's bio. I heard this great man singing on TV on some country show recently. I don't know how old the show was but I believe he was well up in his years then. I was blown away by his still powerful, pure tenor voice. What a loss. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Locklin)

TRIVIA ANSWER: The word Grammy in the Grammy Awards comes from Gramophone which is a brand name of a sound recording in the late 1800's.
CHARLES GEORGE (Dallas, TX) Hi, I always open your newsletter first thing when I go to my e-mail. Sometimes I wish I had been in broadcasting as a professional, but from the stories I hear at times makes me wonder. When I was taking speech therapy my therapist, said you would do well to think about being a lawyer. I told her I would hate to loose when I felt like my side was right. Charles George
