ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS
TEJAS DIES!!!
Around 5 am on Friday, May 8, 2009 my precious Akita angel baby Tejas dies. Panic sets in! This cannot be true! But she just lies there on the kitchen floor in front of her turbo fan near her daddy and our computer. Tejas is my friend. She is my family. We are inseparable. Now she is gone. Keep expecting her to come over to daddy for some hugs and love like she usually does but she just lies motionless on the floor. She weighs 100 lbs and I cannot carry her out to the car. What am I going to do? Find the new Pet Smart 24 hour pet emergency phone number on the flyer that arrives in our mail box. The guy who answers says this is the pet hotel. He gives me the actual number but the recording says they open at 7am! Tejas still has some warmth on her neck and head. Call him back. He gives another number and others, too, but they only have recordings that say when they open. So, Tejas still lies on the kitchen floor at 7 am because no one seems to care about my precious angel. Spend 6 or more hours on the phone but no vet shows interest. At 12:29 pm place a call to the associate pastor of my big church Tallowood Baptist. Leave a message. Talk with his secretary. Sometime after 2 pm two large guys from the church maintenance staff place Tejas inside a large gauze blanket to make her final visit to the vet. The tears do not stop since 5 am when I know that my angel baby Tejas crosses the Rainbow Bridge.

David Rehr, NAB President/CEO, suddenly resigns his post after only 3-1/2 years. In December 2005, the former President of the National Beer Wholesalers Association succeeds 23-year NAB top executive Eddie Fritts. The NAB board now searches for Rehr's replacement. David remains with the NAB for a one-month transition. The NAB President/CEO position is the chief face of radio and television in Washington, DC.

C.C. MCCARTNEY (Nashville-Hendersonville, TN) The CC that Dr. Bruce is referring to is Clear Channel, not the CC you all know and love...LOL! Keep up the good work, Jim, I really enjoy it! Your ol' pal, CC McCartney (
www.ccmccartney.com)TOM ELLIS (Boston-Newton, MA) Subject: TEJAS dies! Oh my, Jim. How sad to hear of the loss of your closest friend, Tejas. I have 5 cats (down from eleven) and a couple of those that have gone were severe blows. Anyone who's had a close relationship with a companion like Tejas is feeling some of your pain. Hope you have someone there who is close enough to you to help you through this ordeal. Know that your friends out here in email land love you and are with you in spirit and support. Tom
JOYCE WEBSTER [J.C.] (Mena, AR) Oh, Jim, I am so, so sorry. Bless your heart. There's one thing I know, Tejas was very loved. And...I know in my heart that your precious Tejas will be waiting for you on the other side of this life. Will be praying for you as I know your heart is broken. JC
LOU KIRBY [Louis Connors] (Cancun, Mexico) Jim...sorry for your loss...I’m not from Houston, and don`t live there. I live in Mexico...been here last 20 years...wishing you well....Lou Kirby
WHERE DO YOU READ JRRR? Tell us how far away from Houston, TX that you read JRRR. Send your full name, city, state and country of residence to rosekkkj@earthlink.net.
CHUCK DUNAWAY (Houston, TX) Jim: Believe me, we know your sorrow. When one of our pets died about three years ago Kendall and I both cried for hours and still tear up at the mention of her name. I don’t know if you are familiar with the Rainbow Bridge or not, but I’m sending it to you. God will Bless Tejas for giving you so much joy over the years. Kendall and I share in your pain. I received an email from my friend in Mexico, Lou Kirby, telling me that you were having trouble disposing of tejas’ remains. Is that still true?…email me and let me know. Chucky
MARGARITA SMITH (Houston, TX) Oh my God! Just read your message. Me and Tommy feel absolutely awful for you. What in the world happened? She was still young. Please let us know. You cannot replace Tejas as she was so wonderful but maybe you can find another friend at Caps animal shelter where we found Shadow as you need somebody to walk with you. Take care, Margareta
JOHN HALE (Austin-Cedar Park, TX) Jim, It's with great sorrow that I hear that Tejas has died. I'm a dog owner too, and crazy about Maxwell, my Scottie. I know how much Tejas has meant to you, and if, like the song says, there's a Little Dog Heaven, I'm certain Tejas is there. Please get back with me and let me know you're gonna get through this okay. Yours Truly, John Hale, Mobile Magic Music "We're at the best parties!"
JOAN PATE-DAY (Cedar Creek Lake,TX) Whoa Jimbo... Sure you are upset and depressed at this time. But would you want to tarnish Tejas memory by giving up now? The time Tejas has been your best friend, why Tejas gave you all of the love possible to give. How sad it would be to deprive Tejas of a happy, not sad, doggie Heaven by you not continuing the love inside your heart. As long as you are here, so is Tejas. It seems to me the good Lord saw to it Tejas would make it back home to spend what time left with a loving friend and master. I remember when Tejas first came to you. Replacing your other best friend. You felt the same way back then. I can not think of the right words to say to you to ease your pain, but by golly I sure know how to pray for you. Dear Lord, forgive me of my sins and make me worthy of this prayer to you. I ask it right now, in your precious holy name, to surround your arms around Jim in his sorrow. Help him to see he gave all of the love he had to his devoted friend Tejas. Stand by him and guide him to accept the grief and to go on from here. I know you are kinda busy Lord but do ask you to take time to comfort our dear friend Jim and show him how all of his friends are feeling his pain as well. In your name I ask this amen.
CHARLES GEORGE (Dallas, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! I am not sure but this seems like a time to ask for a donation to be sent. I am not sure how much an Akita goes for. But sounds like a worthy cause. Take Care, Charles
DICK GLANCEY (San Antonio, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! Sad, sad news for sure. Keep your chin up...things are bound to get better. Take plenty of time to pray...love yourself! Great idea. The sooner you get another dog, the better for you...good luck Dick Glancey
JOHN WESLEY DOWNEY (Houston-Sugar Land, TX) Jim, I'm genuinely sorry to hear of Tejas' passing. I know how much Tejas meant to you. My condolences. John
DONNA CROFT [T.J. Callahan] (Houston, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! Oh my gosh! So sorry, Jim. Was she sick? Poor tejas. My husband, Ricky, is a veterinarian and he said you are probably right, that tejas was poisoned. Possibly not intentionally, but she could have gotten into rat poison or who knows what roaming around the complex and strange homes. At least she knows you were there for her when she needed you most. Teej
COLONEL ST. JAMES (Houston, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! Dear Jim, I am so sorry. I know what Tejas meant to you, or as a dog owner myself, I think I do. I've lost a puppy or two before, so I know what you're going through now. God bless you, Jim and Tejas, too. Aloha, Colonel St. James (www.colonelstjames.com) Listen 7pm til 12Mid CT online at www.kkrw.com!
BOB CROWLEY (D/FW-Arlington, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! OH NO! Jim, that's horrible. I am so sorry. I can only imagine your sorrow. There is nothing like the companionship of a good and faithful dog. As Kinky Friedman says: "Money can buy a dog, but only love can make it wag its tail." Condolences, Bob
DR. JEFF CUNNINGHAM (Austin-Kyle, TX) I am devastated. I am so sorry Jim. I thought she would be with you for years to come. I am going to say a special prayer for you. And Tejas. She was good to you and I felt a special bond with her. Jeff Cunningham, DC Kyle, TX (www.zoesplaceclinic.com) (www.myspace.com/drjeffcunningham)
CHET MAXWELL (San Antonio, TX) Oh Jim, I am so sorry. I don't know what to say. I don't know how to express it to you. I know the pain is almost unbearable. She must have gotten into some chemical when she was exploring. I will be here the rest of the afternoon. Feel free to contact me. Chet
TRIVIA ANSWER: Sonny and Cher's daughter Chastity's middle name is Sun because they say that she brings light to their lives.
DAN MCCURDY (Sherman, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! Jim...I'm so sorry for your terrible loss...even if expected, an event of this magnitude cannot be easily understood nor, it seems, even comprehended. Only time and the loving support of friends and those who are close to you can offer any measure of comfort and help, somehow, to bridge the deep sadness of your loss. Tejas' unconditional acceptance and Love for you surely touched you from the moment you first met and through the years. And that 'unconditional giving' certainly played a role in helping to influence the consummate 'can-do' individual and the loving, giving person you have become. And that, in its rare and wonderful way, is a very tangible form of immortality. Please know, Jim, that my heart aches for you. I know I'm speaking for your many friends and fans during this distressing and sorrowful time...and it will be that very thing: time, which will ease much of the hurt you must now feel. Your friend... Dan McCurdy - KLIF, KBOX-Dallas; WMEX-Boston; Texas Radio Hall of Fame 2004. Sherman, Texas
PARRIS AFTON BONDS (Dallas, TX) Jim, I'm sooooo sorry. No words to console a loss like this, as close as you two were. Parris (www.parrisaftonbonds.com/)
SAMUEL TAYLOR COLERIDGE (1772-1834) To be loved is all I need, And whom I love, I love indeed.
