ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS

TEJAS' LAST DAY
At 5am on Friday morning, May 8, 2009 my precious Akita girl doggie dies with her head in my hand. There are no words to describe the panic and total shock at the loss of my very best friend. Tejas and I are inseparable. For the next 6 hours I try to locate a vet or anyone to help in this life or death emergency situation but this interests no one. They either say No! or pass the buck to another phone number to call. Finally sometime in the noon hour I call my large church. Leave a message on the associate pastor's telephone. Then call his secretary. She assures me that someone will soon arrive to take Tejas' now lifeless body to the vet for cremation. In the 2 o'clock hour two large members of my church's maintenance staff arrive to take Tejas to her final appointment at the vet. Cannot watch as they lean down to pick up Tejas and place her in the huge blanket size gauze like cloth. Tejas leaves her daddy and forever home for the final time. Tears never stop falling. What we request that you do is flood the office of my church's associate pastor to let him know how much you appreciate him and my church for their help in Tejas and my dire time of need. Please send your letters of thank you to Larry Bertrand; Associate Pastor; Tallowood Baptist Church; 555 Tallowood Road; Houston, TX 77024. Also, please let us know when you send your letter. Thank you. May the Lord richly bless you.

JOAN PATE-DAY
Jim I was just thinking....Seeing as how I have been in church work for several years, volunteering in the office, I know there are many things a church does for which it receives no thanks. If you would print the name and address of the church, wouldn't it be swell if we all sent them a thank you note for helping you? If each of your readers would do that, what a pleasant surprise it would be to the church who came to your aid. Each could send you the message the note had been sent and you could let us know how many were received.

IF YOU THINK THIS ISSUE OF JRRR IS WORTH READING...Please forward this entire issue to five of your friends and associates! To subscribe to Jim Rose Remembers Radio send your full name, city, state and country of residence plus email address to

MICHAEL O'SHEA (Beverly Hills, CA) Jim...So devastated to hear of your loss. You will be in my thoughts. Somewhere in a shelter near you there is another little guy or gal who's life is threatened purely by its circumstance. Go save a life, Jim, It'll help you with your loss and it will make a huge difference for another. Bless you. Sincerely, Michael O'Shea

JONATHAN FRICKE (Nashville, TN) Subject: TEJAS dies! So saddened by your news. Tejas was part of you, and always will be. Remember the good times. Tejas was an exceptional dog. No words can express my feelings. My prayers are with you. Jonathan

RANDY KENDRICK (Denver-Parker, CO)
Jim, so very sad to read about your loss of Tejas. Losing a companion like that is a tough thing to go through. Yet the love our pets give us outweigh even the sadness of losing them. I will be devastated when Molly, our current dog, is no longer with us. I have read your articles from time to time, but don't know if I ever wrote or not. We worked together for a while at KULF. I also was at KTRH, KEYH, KFMK, KGOL and Houston Traffic Central back in the 70s & 80s. I don't know if you remember me or not. In any case, a hearty hello to you! I currently live outside of Denver, Colorado and work in product marketing at Dish Network. If you do remember my lovely wife Debra, she and I are still together, married for over 35 years, and all the boys are grown. We have 3 grandchildren. Well, enough rambling for now. And again, very sorry to learn about Tejas. Randy Kendrick Parker, CO

WHERE DO YOU READ JRRR? Tell us how far away from Houston, TX that you read JRRR. Send your full name, city, state and country of residence to rosekkkj@earthlink.net.

LARRY SCOTT (Dallas-Terrell, TX)
Jim, Gail and I share your grief. We don't have any grandchildren but we do have "grand dogs." They are closer than family. I always heard, a man that loves his dog is a good man. From the first time I talked to you I could tell you were a good compassionate person. Your love for Tejas certainly proved that. Larry and Gail Scott

BILL YOUNG (Houston-Sugar Land, TX) I'm sorry to hear about Tejas. I have had dogs all my life (have 3 now) and I know how important these relationships are to us. I could write a book about the amazing things I have learned from them. I know the pain you feel. My thoughts are with you. Bill

DAVE CROCKETT (Houston, TX) Jim, So sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is almost as hard as losing anyone else you love and care about. Akitas are great dogs. I’m sure Tejas gave you lots of enjoyment, companionship and memories over the years. Again Jim, sorry for your loss. Dave E. Crockett; Audio Producer-Voice Talent; Bill Young Productions; Sugar Land, TX

ROBERT B. MCENTIRE (Houston, TX) We just went thru the same shock and sorrow. I don't know if your mind is in a place yet to think about this...but, there is sweet baby 'out there' who needs you in a special way and you need that baby just as much. Honor Tejas by taking in another special friend who would not stand a chance were it not for you. The tears will go away, the sweet memories will last forever. McEntire

JOE FORD (Houston-Spring, TX) Oh, my God, Jim...I feel your pain! Your loyal companion is gone and I know the sadness is overwhelming. Mary Lou and I treasure each and every moment we've had with our wonderful pets. They are all truly God's gifts when we come home at the end of the day...to greet us with a friendly lick on the face...the wag of a bushy tail...never questioning how we look or how we dress, just always happy to see us and thrilled to get a pat on the head or a scratch on the back. Each one of our pets, dogs and cats hold a special place in our memories. Their personalities were as different as their breeds. Some we found on the side of the road, some wandered in just looking for a bite to eat and never left. Stray cats to Olde English Sheepdogs, German Shepherds to rescue animals...we've had 'em all and loved them like family...because that's just what they are! The current love of our life is a 158 pound Great Pyrenees named Beau. He is a true delight for all of us. Unfortunately, he's 10 years old...very, very old in doggie years. It's very difficult to see him slowing down but the magic he brings to our world will remain forever. My wish for you is to savor that special magic Tejas brought into your life and let her memory comfort you, my friend. Joe

RON SELDEN (Palestine, TX) Jim, I read about Tejas through tear-filled eyes. My wife, Jean, and I send you our most heartfelt sympathy. Ron

JOHN STEEL (Houston, TX) Jim, I am so sorry to hear this. John Steel

TRIVIA ANSWER: England Dan Seals and John Ford Coley's 1968 Pop group Southwest F.O.B. means Freight On Board. The band breaks up in 1969.

MIKE SHANNON (Dallas-Mesquite, TX)
OMG!!!! I am so sorry! What happened? I thought you got Tejas as a pup when Kei-Kou passed away? My heart goes out to you. Nearly 5 years passed now since my beloved Nicholas passed on. It's like losing a family member, or even harder. Take care of yourself...mike (
