CHUCK CASHMERE (San Diego, CA) Jim I did join the Texas Radio Hall of Fame and nominate you as a candidate. Oops are u already in the Hall of Fame. Anyway...my heart was in the right place. I previously mentioned the loss of Tejas. I had only one pet my entire 71 years of living. My dog Primo, the same dog which drew the wrath of k9 allergic Paul Berlin one morning after I kept him in the studio with me during my tenure at KQUE. He died over 25 years ago and I've never become attached to another animal. Pets are special in our lives and I've always felt they find us, we don't find them. I guess God meant for me to be a one pet person. Keep the faith Jim. CC
DAVE MICHAELS (San Diego, CA) Subject: Your little dog. Jim - so sorry to hear about your friend! My little one will be 17 in June! She is half blind, can't hear anymore when I call her, has weak little back legs from old age I guess. But we still love her just like a family member, YOU know what I mean! Take care of yourself, and get another pet; in memory of the one you lost! I agree with the Will Rogers quote! Dave Michaels
TEJAS Akita girl doggie is over 90 pounds of freight train strength but has a fluffy bunny rabbit's sweet love. It's a mighty lonely place without Tejas because around here the gorgeous girl rules the roost with her liveliness and love but she is not here anymore.
JOYCE WEBSTER [J.C.] (Mena, AR) Dear Jim, Through all the storms, I had computer problems...finally was able to get on line yesterday and then while trying to resolve some problems, I lost the JRRR which had the address so I could write to thank your associate pastor for helping you with your dear Tejas. Like others, I've shed many tears; but, the strange thing is I was sitting thinking about you when I decided to check my computer as it had stormed all night AGAIN, and I had your latest! I understand the pain of losing your precious pet. I particularly liked your quote from Will Rogers today, who by the way, I only recently learned is a distant cousin. I totally agree with what he said. Why would anyone believe there is a heaven that doesn't include animals?!? Are we not all God's creation? I hope you are feeling the love people are feeling for you, Jim. You hang in there. Always, JC
CHURCH TO THE RESCUE!
After the death of my precious Tejas Akita girl doggie at 5 am on Friday, May 8, 2009 I spend over six harrowing hours on the telephone to try to locate a vet, someone, anyone to help with the body of my dearly departed doggie. But all I receive is NO! or more numbers to call. Do speak with Noreen Dickson at Pets Are Us Rescue. For well over an hour her words help ease some of the pain of the loss of my very best friend, Tejas Akita girl. Finally at about 12:30 pm I call the associate pastor of my church. Leave a message. Speak with his secretary who assures me that help is on the way. In the 2 o'clock hour two fellas from the church arrive to take my baby away to the vet. Please send cards and letters of thank you to Larry Bertrand; Associate Pastor; Tallowood Baptist Church; 555 Tallowood Road; Houston, TX 77024. Also, please let us know when you send your letter. Thank you. May the Lord richly bless you.
JO & JIM TRAVIS (Hot Springs, AR) Subject: Read this...closely. Concentrate on this: 'When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.' Something good will happen to you today; something that you have been waiting to hear. (

JERRY MILLER [Mueller] (Houston, TX) Hey Jim, Jerry Mueller (Miller) here...about those RCA 45's...I was assistant record librarian at WMIN in St. Paul, Minnesota, and attending Brown Radio School in Minneapolis in early 1951, when RCA sent bandleader/pianist Frankie Carle on a radio station tour to give to & introduce the ENTIRE RCA library, then available for the first time on 45 rpm records. He was promoted as "Mr. 45"! At WMIN I had to file the darn things ASAP. DJ/announcers Norm Page & Stu Lindeman ran the music shows on this Indy station. In 1952 working at KIBL in Beeville, TX, (my 1st job) we started using the little 45 players/changers...'talking' the intro until the record dropped and started playing. No cueing as yet! The infancy of Top 40 Radio on all non-network stations!
KIBL-1490 in Beeville, TX is now Your Kinda Country.
NOREEN DICKSON (Houston-Cypress, TX) In the rescue business we use the rainbow bridge to help us through the passing of the animals. We may not do dogs and cats but I can assure you we get attached to the animals we do care for. Many come to us in horrendous shape and they expect us to perform a miracle which does happen occasionally, I remember so many nights with no sleep caring for an animal that was touch and go. They were all worth it. I understand not everyone can love a snake but we do! We just don't have the man power or have the volunteers to add dogs and cats, not only that we did attempt to save dogs in Lake Jackson but were continually harassed by the SPCA so we just closed that division and do a few small dogs on the side. Thank you, Noreen; Pets Are Us Rescue (www.petsareusrescue.org) / (www.petsareus.petfinder.com) / (http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Reptileandexoticrescues/) / (www.myspace.com/petsareus)/ (http://PetsAreUsRescue2260.petsunlimited.com) "If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men." ~ St. Francis of Assisi
JOE LADD (Houston, TX) Hey Jim, Sorry to hear about Tejas entering that big doggie gate in the sky. I lost my Bennie, a beautiful collie on the day I left for the US Army in 1960. I've been though two wives and many girl friends since and to this date nothing has replaced Bennie. Yes, a dog is men's best friend. Joe Ladd
TRIVIA ANSWER: Elvis Presley turns down the tune Bye Bye Love. The Everly Brothers version hits #2 on Billboard. It remains on the chart for 22 weeks.
JOHNNY SHANNON (San Antonio, TX) Jim, I'm saddened to hear of the loss of your best friend, Tejas. Having experienced losing beloved pets in my life, I know the empty space in your heart can only be filled with the love and kindness from your many friends......and that Tejas is now running and playing in a happy place. All the best thoughts to you, my friend. Johnny
REV. BILLY GRAHAM (November 7, 1918-p) I think God will have prepared everything for our perfect happiness. If it takes my dog being there [in Heaven], I believe she'll be there.
