ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS

OUR PREDICTION COMES TRUE!
Another Smooth Jazz FM radio station is like Kansas' Dust in the Wind. On Monday, May 18, 2009 at 3 pm Clear Channel Radio does indeed flip Smooth Jazz KKSF FM to Classic Rock as 103.7 the Band. The first song is by Carlos Santana's Everybody's Everything which peaks at #12 in 1971. What a neat idea because Carlos forms Latin-Rock group Santana in the San Francisco Bay area in 1966. Santana also appears at Woodstock in 1969. Next, KKSF FM spins 10,000 songs in a row without commercial interruptions. Its first hour includes familiar tunes by the Beatles, Doobie Brothers, Elton John, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Pink Floyd, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Journey. (
www.1037theband.com) Have no fear Smooth Jazz fans because it lives on in a stream on www.kksf.com. Dave Pugh P/MM explains We thank all the loyal KKSF listeners for their passion and support over the years. We want to keep the music alive on the online platform and continue to provide a venue for smooth jazz artists to distribute their music.

SUKOSHI RICE (Blairsville, GA) Dear Jim, Yes, I read about Tejas after I first write. I am sorry for your loss. I have a little dog Mimi who is with me for 6 years and knows my every mood and move. And so I can imagine. My last name is Rice. I am around music and musicians either as a friend or fan or in my professional capacity as body/energy worker. Backstage, not on stage. I will check in to your website from time to time. With love, Sukoshi

TOM ASWELL (Denham Springs, LA) Jim, I’m truly sorry about Tejas. We all felt as though we knew her through you. I know how tough it can be. I have a little dog that I’m crazy about. Tom Aswell

ROB RICHIE (Madison, WI) Hi Jim: Thanks for your help. We also had a beautiful black Akita male, but he passed several years ago. Just a great dog. My sister lives on Menking Court. I can't thank you enough for your help. Rob

DERRILL HOLLY (Arlington, VA) My friend, I am so sorry. I do understand the closeness to pets and they really are our families. When I left Houston back in 1994, I brought my Lab mix Joey, and my American Short-hair cat, Honey with me to Washington. Joey passed away in 2000 (He lived 19 years) and Honey left us on Christmas morning 2007 (at age 20). They were both much loved and well taken care of. Honey's remains rest in my garden under the perennials she used to love to stalk in. I know your pain, and if you remember anything about me, then you will understand my sincere hope that tomorrow will be a better day for you Jim. These have been trying months, but your talent, your humor and your drive are all things that we, who read your newsletter have come to appreciate. You hang in there buddy, and know that you are in my prayers. Derrill

JOYCE WEBSTER [J.C.] (Mena, AR) Dear Jim, I am going to do my best to research today to see if there is a foundation in your area who will not only help you find another Akita, but provide for the animal's needs...something like the Baker Foundation in Dallas. IF I find anything helpful, I will send it to you. My daughter is great friends with the lady in Dallas who works with the Baker Foundation as she has accepted and loved several animals over the years from them. Perhaps her friend will know if there is anything similar in your area. Will you only be happy with an Akita? IF that is the case, then I will pray that is what we find...a puppy or does it need to be a little older? I know the effort that goes into house breaking and training a puppy. Maybe you would really like that. Let me know so I know how to specifically pray and look. I hope you are feeling the love people are feeling for you, Jim. You hang in there. Always, JC

CHUCK CASHMERE (San Diego, CA) Jim, although we've never met except thru Jim Rose Remembers please accept my condolences for the loss of your beloved Tejas...the loss of a pet is devastating. Only those of us who've lost a pet can relate to the emptiness you must feel. Hang in there Jim. CC

DAN ROSEN (Tokyo-Kamakura, Japan) Dear Jim, Sorry to hear the sad news about Tejas. I hope memories of your time together will ease the pain of loss. Sincerely, Dan

DR. BRUCE NELSON (Corpus Christi, TX) Jim, So very sorry to hear the bad news about Tejas. Sandi and I share our home w/three cats and Lady our Sheltie and know how much extra joy pets contribute to our daily lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you... DrB

BILLY THORMAN (Ft. Worth, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! Jim, I am so sorry to hear that Tejas passed away. What a great friend she was and you to her.

TRIVIA ANSWER: German band leader Bert Kaempfert discovers The Beatles in Hamburg. In summer 1961, Bert produces the Beatles first recording session as backup band for singer Tony Sheridan on Polydor records in Hamburg's Friedrich-Ebert-Halle. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and drummer Pete Best record eight songs with Sheridan. Two of those tunes release on a vinyl 45 rpm record. Remember those? The A side My Bonnie releases in America on MGM records and lands at #26 in 1964. Bert Kaempfert has hits of his own, too: Wonderland by Night remains at #1 for 3 weeks in 1960. Bert writes smash hits for other artists: Frank Sinatra's Strangers in the Night (#1-1966) and Al Martino's Spanish Eyes (#15-1966).

DEAN DANIELS (Dallas-Lewisville, TX)
Hi Jim, I know how much you love Akitas (and they are wonderful dogs) but have you considered a smaller breed that might be easier for you to walk with your bad back and more comfortable in an apartment? There's a lot of great choices out there. Our new boy Denny is a Shar-Pei/Yellow Lab mix weighing in around 38lbs. He's incredibly intelligent, loves to play and is the star of his Petsmart training class (even sits when I stop on a walk like a little gentleman!) He gets along with our 15 yr old Black Lab beautifully and is giving old Smokey a new challenge and lease on life (and Smokey has so far outlived the vet's expectations and is in amazing health she can still go on her nightly walks with Denny, slower but determined!) Hang in there! Dean (
