ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS

MANCOW SHOUTS HOLY COW!
A lot of controversy surrounds supposed CIA acts of torture when they question stubborn terrorists. At the head of the list is waterboarding. Mancow Muller midday personality and Talk Radio Network nationally syndicated host on WLS-890 in Chicago, IL is outspoken that waterboarding is not torture. Muller wants to prove his point in a live broadcast as he receives the waterboard treatment. After 5 seconds Mancow quickly signals that he has enough of this powerful stuff. The U.S. Marine who administers Muller's waterboarding says the most time anyone lasts during the process is about 14 seconds. The out of breath Mancow exclaims, It was way worse than I thought it would be. I thought I could hold out but it was instantaneous and horrific. If I’d known it would be this bad, I absolutely would not have agreed to do this. Mancow previously indicates that he believes the technique is not torture. A witness asks Muller how he now classifies waterboarding. Mancow replies, I don’t want to say this, but it is absolutely torture.

UTAH BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME
Former longtime News Director of KSL TV CH5 in Salt Lake City, J. Spencer Kinard, enters the Utah Broadcasters Hall of Fame on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. In 1966, Spence graduates from the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree. Kinard joins CBS News in NYC where he completes a CBS News fellowship at Columbia University. In 1971, he returns to Utah as a news journalist for then-CBS affiliate KSL TV. In February 1972, the 35-year news journalist begins an 18 year journey as the speaking voice for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on the Music and the Spoken Word CBS Radio program. On November 1, 1990, the Deseret News reports that Kinard resigns as VP of news and public affairs of KSL. According to the Book of Mormon, the word Deseret means Land of the Honey Bee. Another veteran Utah broadcaster with a long career in broadcasting, mostly on KALL-910, the late Bennie Williams joins the Hall of Fame. Bennie spends 36 years in broadcasting. He is GM of KALL-910 and KLCY FM until he retires in 1988. Salute!

DEBRA COX (Dallas, TX)
Hello Jim – I googled an inquiry about ‘the old KQUE radio station in Houston, TX". I live in the Dallas area. I truly miss the mellow blend of Henry Mancini, Neil Diamond, and Floyd Cramer just to name a few. I know that many refer to it as ‘elevator music’ – but it was a staple for me for so many years. I worked in the oil industry in Houston for many years. I remember my shock when my mother informed me that the KQUE I knew no longer existed when I was in town and flipped the radio dial. Debra Cox

GENTLEMAN JIM CARTER (San Antonio, TX) Jim: I really can't add anything to what has already been said by so many others who have offered their sympathy for the recent loss of your beloved Tejas. You never really own a dog, they own you! It's no accident that dog spelled backwards is God... always loving, always forgiving and always there for you. I once had a female Doberman and a male German Shepherd. They had a litter and I raised my "grandson", Booger, who had characteristics of both his mom and his dad. He was very funny and sharp and knew that beds always had two pillows because one was for me and the other was for him. Booger died in 1975 and after all these years I still miss him. Peace to you Jim. And if it is your desire to get another pup like Tejas I feel sure you will realize your dream. Gentleman Jim Carter

BLAKE LINDSAY (D/FW-Addison, TX) Jennifer and I have certainly thought about you often this entire weekend. We both send our sincere sorrow to you Jim. We care about you lots, appreciate you very much, and we hurt when you do. Please let us know, if there is anything we can do to help, and provide you some friendship comfort. Blazin' Blake Lindsay (

LYNN WOOLLEY (Temple, TX)
Subject: TEJAS dies! Dang, Jim! You sure have a hard time with you puppies. Bless your heart. I had to put down my big greyhound, Ace, a few weeks ago due to cancer. It is so tough when that happens. Ace was a great dog. As my wife said, one day he was here, the next he was gone. Lynn (www.BeLogical.com)

JOANIE GREEN-GALLO (Houston, TX)
Jim, Our pets are such integral parts of our families and I am so sorry to read about the loss of Tejas. My best wishes to you and your family during this difficult time. Joan

LIZ 'HOUSTON' PATRANELLA (Austin, TX)
Jim, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. There is little consolation to be found at a time like this. My dear dog passed many years ago and I still think of her and miss her. My thoughts are with you. Liz

GEORGE LESTER (Palestine-Elkhart, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! Jim, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. When your precious pet is all you have in the way of family I know it hurts more than under other circumstances. For Years all I had was my wonderful collie named Prince. Some SOB shot him and he died at my back door right before my eyes. I offered a $1,000 reward to try to catch whomever was responsible but nothing turned up. Once again, my deepest sympathy. George

KAREN JOHNSTON (Houston, TX) Hi Jim, I'm so sorry to hear about your precious girl. I know how much she meant to you. Pets bring so much joy to our lives. Losing them is one of life's most bitter pills. Take comfort in knowing that she loved you, too. She knew she could count on you to provide love and security. In time, hopefully, you will provide the same to another of God's most treasured blessings. I will keep you in my prayers. Regards, Karen Johnston

JAY WEAVER (D/FW-Hurst, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! JIM! I am so sorry! I know Tejas meant the world to you. I am so sorry for your loss! Jay Weaver

TRIVIA ANSWER: The Harp and the Piano are the two most common unbowed stringed instruments in a symphony orchestra.

MARTHA JOE THRASHER (Dallas-Farmers Branch, TX)
Subject: TEJAS dies! I hope that precious memories sustain you in this difficult time for you! Love, Martha Joe

CYNTHIA RYLANT (June 6, 1954-p) God turns clouds inside out to make fluffy beds for the dogs in Dog Heaven, and when they are tired from running and barking and eating ham-sandwich biscuits, the dogs find a cloud bed for sleeping. God watches over each one of them. And there are no bad dreams.
