LOIS LANE PERISHES
In the 1940s, the woman who plays Lois Lane on Mutual Radio’s The Adventures of Superman, Joan Alexander, dies at 94. As an actress she also goes by Joan A. Stanton but her real name is Louise Abras of Lebanese decent. She begins her career as a model and stage actress before she finds fame as a radio star. She voices roles as Perry Mason's secretary Della Street and Lois Lane in the Superman series. Joan is the third actress to portray Lois Lane in the radio series. She remains in the role for 1,600 episodes. Do you know that Bud Collyer is the radio voice for Superman? Wow! We fondly remember Bud as the TV host of Beat the Clock in the 1950s. Even after the radio version of Superman ends Alexander and Collyer are the radio voices for Lois Lane and Clark Kent (Superman) in 17 animated Superman short films during World War II. In the late 1960s, they reunite for the CBS Saturday morning cartoon series The New Adventures of Superman. When she dies, Joan still has a lawsuit against her financial advisors. She claims they lose or steal much of the $70 million she inherits from her third husband, Arthur Stanton, an auto distributor who helps introduce the Volkswagen Beetle to America. He dies in 1987. Joan's daughter novelist Jane Stanton Hitchcock says that her mother dies of an intestinal blockage on Thursday, May 21, 2009 in NYC's Presbyterian Hospital. The NY Times reports that Stanton's survivors are her daughter Stanton Hitchcock, son Tim Stanton, a half sister and a grandson. A son from her third marriage, Adam Stanton, dies in 1993.

JOYCE WEBSTER [J.C.] (Mena, AR) Dear Jim, My daughter sent me this site (
www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html) and asked I send it to you. I told her about your losing Tejas. I hope the website my daughter had me send to you was helpful. I raised all my children to be animal lovers, and we had some very special pets. As a child, we had a parakeet for many years who talked so much and entertained us, that I especially learned to love birds. We also had a bloodhound, and he was a wonderful animal! Thank goodness we were able to move out of the city so he had plenty of room. I still smile when I think of Hobo. I hope you are feeling the love people are feeling for you, Jim. You hang in there. Always, JCJO TRAVIS (Hot Springs, AR) Subject: Rainbow Bridge. My thoughts and prayers are with you and with Tejas. She has no worries or problems now. She'll just wait with your other little beauty until you can join them. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it leaves a big hole in your life. Same as usual...casual, no speeches or agendas, each pays for their own, etc...and plenty of opportunity to get caught up with old friends, make new ones, and even do some networking. And I've made the error the last couple of Lunch Bunches of calling this a "radio" event--it's always open to anyone in DFW media! RSVP optional...just show up...BUT an RSVP will give me some general idea of a head count. Looking forward to seeing everyone THIS FRIDAY! Questions, info, RSVPs...just email me. Mike Shannon (mike@knus99.com) / (www.knus99.com/)
DAN MCCURDY (Sherman, TX) Jim...my deepest sympathy for the loss of your precious Tejas. My heart really aches for you, Jim, since I have been there on numerous occasions. My hurt has been so bad in years past that I refuse to get another dog as a pet. I would love to have one, but I simply cannot handle the pain of their always all-too-soon departure. Your North Texas buddy...Dan McCurdy
EVELYN PATE-ALLEN (Kemp-Tool, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! So sorry to hear of the passing of Tejas. I know how devastated you must be. When we lose a dear member of the family it leaves an empty space in our life. I know God will comfort you at this time if you will just lean on HIM. We all love you Jimbo.

TRIVIA ANSWER: Muhammad Ali loses his boxing title on April 29, 1967 because he refuses induction into the U.S. Army. On October 30, 1974 he regains his world heavyweight title when he defeats champion George Foreman. In 1980, he loses the championship to Larry Holmes.
RAY WHITWORTH (D/FW-Arlington, TX) Subject: TEJAS dies! Jim: Fully understand. My cat died two years ago right when my marriage was over and we lost the house. I cried over my friend who always wanted to pet me back and watch TV on my lap along with the two dogs. She had great personality and always made sure she showed she loved me. My dog "britches" mourned her too and sticks with me a lot, when I am on the computer or watching TV or with my GF. She is my family all the same. So when you get another dog. Please do it at a shelter. Too many have given up their pets due to the economy. They deserve homes. Hang in there my friend and smile at the loving memories. My thoughts are with you. Ray
DR. SEUSS (March 2, 1904-September 24, 1991) Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
