DIGITAL TV REPLACES ANALOG
TVNewsday reports there is no major disruption during the switch from analog TV to the new DTV. As TV stations shut off their analog service and convert to digital signals, the FCC says that out of the 317,450 calls its hotline receives on D Day Friday, June 12, 2009 nearly 30% are about the operation of digital converter boxes and not what to do now that their TV screens fizzle. SAM LEE (Beverly Hills, CA) Hi Jim, Do you remember Walt "Baby Love" Shaw from KILT or CKLW? Well, he was my DJ in New York at WXLO and WBLS and was an original partner with me for WILD in Boston. He also was at R&R for a long time and currently has two shows with Westwood One. Anyway, I emailed him your Jim Rose Remembers link yesterday. The reason I'm telling you all this is he has a book published with Howard Books, a division of Simon & Schuster. Check with him to see if he has a contact. Walt's info email waltblove@gmail.com. Hope this is useful. And PayPal is free for a donation button. Stay up. Sam (www.ZeitgeistCorp.org)

JOYCE WEBSTER [JC] (Mena, AR) Dear Jim, I'm afraid it has taken me a little while to get around to letting you know how happy I am that your friends from JRRR are working together to get you a new Akita! I certainly want to be a part...thought I had lost Billy T's email, but I hadn't. My prayers have been that you get the desires of your heart regarding your new pet. I think it is absolutely wonderful what Billy, Chuck and others are doing. A little foot to our prayers!!! I've contacted Billy tonight and told him to send me Chuck's address ASAP, forward him my email or whatever is the fastest. Guess you had best start thinking about a name for your new arrival, Jim. It makes me smile just to think about what you will go through with a new little Akita!!! Too bad we can't all give you a "baby shower" as that would really be fun. Take care, JC

BILLY THORMAN (Ft. Worth, TX)
You might want to alter my letter to include Chuck's Email address. (
ckdunaway@consolidated.net) I have five promises from the people I contacted personally. Jim, I think all your readers will agree that you need a new puppy. When we spoke earlier, you said they're around $300 dollars. I looked online and it's more like $500 and up. I've talked to the few people I know who read your column and they are anxious to help out. If we can find 8 to 10 more people to chip in 30 bucks or less we should be able to raise the money. I want to thank Chuck Dunaway who has agreed to collect the money. I will also help out with shipping if needed. Jim, please print this note so your readers know of the effort. All we ask is that you name the dog after us. Just kidding. All the best! Billy t

GARY DELAUNE (San Antonio, TX)
Having moved to Dallas from L.A. via Oklahoma City, didn't have the romantic entanglements that you experienced but I did date a few Big D beauties and married the last one. I dated a girl, Kay Sutton, who was Miss Dallas Texan, (the old football team). She moved to Hollywood and dated a Warner Bros. contract player, Ty Hardin, an Aggie, who did a show called "Bronco' and in 1966, she graced the cover of Playboy plus the pin-ups inside Stephanie Schermerhorn was a TCU beauty who was one of the Homecoming Princesses...then on one of my routine stops at St. Paul Hospital, I saw a brunette beauty who was ER supervisor...we married nine months later. The late Dick Hitt loved to mention in the Dallas Times Herald who I was dating but that was part of the media page. There was a leggy blonde sales secretary at KLIF by the name of Ann duBlon...apparently she was rather successful in her sales card...ha...Jo Taylor was the ER supe...she wouldn't give me the time of day as she mis-trusted newsmen, cops and ambulance drivers. It took some ingenuity to even get her phone number. She knew Jack Ruby far better than I because she treated his strippers, exotic dancers to be PC...she said he was always a gentleman and very polite even asking if he could help, particularly when his bouncer came into the St. Paul ER with a bed spring in his gut. Long before I met Jo, I dated one of Gordon's live billboard girls (from Central Expressway) but I think she preferred deejays. I think Ben Laurie ended up dating her. GD (

It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog that comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all parts of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.
