ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS
ROY ROGERS RIDES THE MOVIE SCREEN AGAIN!
Popular Cowboy King from the 1940s to the 1960s who helps raise us as kids returns to the movie screens in a film trilogy. Roy Rogers is the King of the Cowboys. He is the top Western box office star from 1943-1954. Roy makes more than 88 films with his wife Dale Evans and fabulous Palomino horse Trigger. Rogers even produces and stars in 100 episodes of his own TV show. Roy Rogers appears on more than 400 licensed items and sells 120 million comic books. Roy Rogers returns to the big screen in a film trilogy that launches by financier/producer 821 Entertainment. With its base in Nashville, TN the company partners with the Roy Rogers Family Entertainment Corporation to launch a "King of the Cowboys" film trilogy along with animated TV, interactive game and merchandise efforts. Eric Geadelmann CEO of 821 Entertainment Group assures us fans that this is not a biopic, and will not be a traditional Western, but rather a family fantasy adventure. Roy Rogers, Dale Evans and Trigger are quintessential figures of America, and we will introduce this franchise to a new audience while capitalizing on the millions of Roy Rogers fans worldwide.

CHARLESTON RADIO DOES THE SHUFFLE
Several moves in and out of the Charleston, SC radio market happens in the past few years. The latest dance step occurs when Apex Broadcasting WSPO FM goes on the air as Classic Hits FM 95.9. This only happens because of these changes: WNKT FM (107.5) moves into the Columbia market, WMGL FM (107.1) flips to 107.3 and WAVF FM (96.1) and WKZQ FM (101.7) Myrtle Beach swap frequencies.
TRIVIA QUESTION: What important clause does the Beach Boys have in their contract? The answer appears below.

DERRILL E. HOLLY (Arlington, VA) Hey buddy, YES, You will survive the heat. And you will survive the loss of your best friend. Jim Rose has a special sense of toughness that has always allowed you to keep a smile and good vibes even when life has been c***. You’ve got so many people who have great memories of their contact with you, it means you have been able to navigate this very tough business without making a lot of enemies. That says a lot about your character Jim. People would not genuinely care about you if you hadn’t made your mark so positively over the years. Jim Rose has no quit in him. Life does go on, and you are gonna be okay, even as you adjust to the changes thrown your way. This ain’t a kick in the b***, just my way of saying wait for the bounce and you’ll be cool. If you haven’t let your health put you down, you ain’t gonna let your mood do it to you. That would be so unlike Jim Rose.
SAM LEE (Beverly Hills, CA) Thanks for the note. I was thinking how well you write. you really have a talent. Perhaps a book on Jim Rose remembers radio? It could be an edit of works past or a complete new bit. Just a thought. Have a great weekend. Sam (

BOB GRANT [Robert Hanger] (Houston-Jersey Village, TX) Couple of "Tips-of-the-Hat" to share, RE: Issue 656, 5/6/09: (1) Sammi Smith got her only GOLD record award in 1971 for her hit, "Help Me Make It Through The Night," & her only GRAMMY too. It was also reported that she moved to Dallas in 1973. (so she has a TX connection) Smith died @61 on 2/12/2005 in OKC. Soul Stirrers death of member J. Taylor; the founder of that famous group, Robert H. Harris, B. in Trinity, TX in 1916 & died in Chicago, on 9/3/2000 AND the famous pop singer, Sam Cooke (1/22/31-12/11/64 @33 in L.A.) was a member of the Soul Stirrers from age 20 to 26. In early 60's I had pleasure of being MC for his show in Tampa (after picking him up @ airport & doing live broadcast interview) & 2 yrs later I had opportunity to bring him on stage at The Mosque, Richmond, VA. Just some added tid-bits of interest. BOB & Sonny Lee
