FAMOUS TALKER ENTERS THE HALL
Neal Boortz, 40-year radio veteran, broadcasts his popular radio show from Dial Global WSB-750 in Atlanta, GA since 1993. This is the flagship station for The Neal Boortz Show. Neal soon inducts into the 2009 National Radio Hall of Fame. Other famous inductees are Casey Kasem, Gordon McLendon, Paul Harvey, Rush Limbaugh, Don Imus, Dick Clark, Alan Freed, Jack Benny, Gary Owens, Dick Biondi, Larry Lujack, Robert W. Morgan and Walter Winchell. The Black-tie induction ceremony takes place in the Grand Ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel in Chicago, IL on November 7, 2009. JRRR congratulates Neal Boortz.

MELISSA'S LIGHT GOES OUT
For the 2nd time in 3 years Melissa Forman's light pales as AM Drive host on Clear Channel AC WLIT FM (93.9 Lite FM) Chicago, IL. Foreman's ratings sag with 25-54 listeners which drags WLIT's morning show to #20 on the ARB play list. WLIT shakes up Chicago's airwaves with her exit. This is not a first for Foreman in the Windy City. In 2006, WLIT bounces Melissa from the morning show in favor of Whoopi Goldberg's syndicated morning dialog which stales in comparison. So, WLIT brings Melissa Foreman back.
ARE YOU ON THE LIST?
Each year the FCC audits about 5% of all radio and TV stations here in America. The 2009 FCC lottery awards 169 radio stations that soon receive nice EEO audit letters from the Commission. Know the procedure well because an FCC inspector arrives on my morning show on KBER FM-AM in 1972 on a dark San Antonio, TX winter milk-wagon time. The man in black struts into the radio studio, flips out his shiny badge and says I'm from the government and I'm here to help you. Call the General Manager and the chief engineer right now. This is quite a stimulus package from the U.S. government.
TRIVIA QUESTION: Who is the real Peggy Sue in Buddy Holly's hit record? The answer appears below.

SARA CHESTER (Poughkeepsie, NY) Subject: Jim Rose Remembers Radio (#699) August 14, 2009 [Friday] I only joined your subscriber's list a short time ago. Something is curious to me. Don't you think that it is a little bit creepy to sign your newsletter as "Jim Rose and Tejas"? From reading your archives, I understand that Tejas is a dog. But, really, it creeps me out to think that a grown man would try to imply that his newsletter is written by a man and a dog. Kind of nutty-weird, don't you think? Sara

DR. JEFF CUNNINGHAM (Austin-Kyle, TX) Subject: TRHoF. Hey, you are World Class to me and our family. Keep up the good work. HOF's are ego trips anyhow. You are too humble and REAL to be in the Texas HOF. Jeff Cunningham, DC (www.zoesplaceclinic.com) / (www.myspace.com/drjeffcunningham)

TRIVIA ANSWER: The real Peggy Sue in Buddy Holly's Christmas 1957 hit record is Peggy Sue Gerron who is the girlfriend of his drummer Jerry Ivan Allison. The original title is Cindy Lou but Jerry convinces Buddy to change the name just before the recording session. Jerry Allison and Peggy Sue Gerron soon wed.
DERRILL HOLLY (Arlington, VA) Subject: Only one seat left! Gonna have to pass Jim… November is family travel time… too many grandkids in too many places. Yes, Jim, I have six granddaughters and a great-grandson who was born three weeks ago. All the gray hair in the beard is rightfully earned. Looking forward to the Texas radio reunion next year. Plan to be there for that for sure. Thanks
