ABC BANS FREE SPEECH
Conservative activist group Human Events.com reports that ABC television bans from its network the League of American Voters' TV ad that features an exposé on Obamacare. Nevertheless, League of American Voters' TV ad runs right now in 12 states. This appears to be network bias. Censorship should not be on a TV network's agenda but it exists today. With this approach free speech dies. What about the 1st Amendment? Is it about to fall, too? George Orwell's 1984 is 2009.

FRIDAY IS LAST DAY
Inside Radio reports on Thursday morning, August 27, 2009 that the Don Imus syndicated Imus in the Morning radio show on WABC-770 simulcast on RFD-TV ends on Friday morning, August 28th. That day celebrates my dad George Andrew Rose's birthday. If still alive dad will be 101 years young. He dies on my birthday November 16, 1972. The I-man continues his negotiations with Fox Business Channel for a similar simulcast of his morning radio show.

JOHN JACKSHAW (Houston, TX)
OK, before you call me an extreme right wing nut, heed this request, and you make the call. Yes, I humbly request that you watch, or record, the Glenn Beck show this afternoon at 4P cdt on the Fox News Channel. I watched an extremely informative program Monday, regarding President Obama's new "green czar (a proclaimed communist, convicted felon, & former Black Panther member) Today he'll be discussing a proposed, backdoor, government plan to take over many, many radio stations. This isn't the "fairness doctrine" but something much more sinister. On another front, I recommend a new book by Beck titled "Arguing with Idiots". What makes this a worthwhile read is the fact that he includes 25 pages of footnotes to substantiate the information. John Jackshaw *Comedy*Motivation*Mayhem (

DR. BRUCE NELSON
Summertime Blues also #1 for Allan Jackson...biggest version to my knowledge...Howdy Jim!!! DrB

EDDIE COCHRAN
writes and records the first version of Summertime Blues in 1958. Originally it's the B side or flip side of the 45 rpm single. Eddie performs double duty on the Rocker as he also sings the deep vocals at the end of each verse. Summertime Blues peaks at #8 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart on September 29, 1958. It reaches #18 on the UK Singles Chart. At last count 79 other artists record the tune. In March 2005, Q magazine places Summertime Blues at #77 in its 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks list. Rolling Stone ranks the song at #73 in its 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Tragically, Eddie dies in an auto crash on April 17, 1960 at Chippenham, Wilshire, England. Sharon Sheeley suffers injuries in the smash up. She performs the handclapping on Summertime Blues. Gene Vincent is a passenger in the car. Gene has the timeless Rock 'n' Roll Classic Be-Bop-A-Lula which lands at #7 on Billboard in the summer of 1956. In 1953, Gene injures his left leg from a motorcycle accident which causes him to wear a leg brace ever since. Vincent dies from an ulcer hemorrhage on October 12, 1971.

DEMENTIA RIDDLE ANSWER:
If you say that we place toast in our toasters go to the back of the classroom. We put bread into our toasters. Gotcha!

JOAN PATE-DAY (Cedar Creek Lake, TX)
Well I tried to be nice...but she (Sara Chester) has gone too far in her insensitive remarks. She has three cats? What Sara needs to do is get the vacuum out and get all of that cat hair off of the furniture. More than likely her house is as dirty as her mouth. I am sure she spends most of her time looking for things to complain about. If Sara so easily makes enemies of people she has never met, I pity her trying to find friends around her. Hey gal, you've got your animals there to keep you company. Jim has lost his. He is all alone. The reason we all love him so is because of his tender feelings. And Sara, I wouldn't advise you to mess with me, in an answer, as I am not as kind as Jim Rose. When you pick on him or anyone else on this web page, I can be as mean and insulting as you. Now Jim, I will return to my "sweet side" have a wonderful day.

DR. JEFF CUNNINGHAM (Austin-Kyle, TX) Subject: Jim Rose Remembers Radio (#704) August 26, 2009 [Wednesday] Ooops...I forgot to mention Cady, my beloved cat of 16 1/2 years who passed in January. I found her at the old Sportatorium in Dallas when I was the ring doctor there. She adopted me in 1992 and we shared the same birthday. So, add Cady (pronounced Katie) to the list. By the way, the spelling came about because the Sportatorium was on the corner of Industrial and Cadiz...thus the name. Jeff Cunningham, DC Kyle, TX (

BIG D JAMBOREE

Dr. Jeff's mention of the Sportatorium in my hometown Dallas, TX brings back many fond memories. On Saturday nights dad takes our family along with my best friend Jimmy Lee Grubb to Ed McLemore's Sportatorium to see the fantastic Big D Jamboree's long line of entertainers. Other times during the week wrestling is the main event. During those visits we kids witness music history in the making. Many Rock and Country artists get their start on the Big D Jamboree to go on to become famous names. In the Fabulous Fifties the Casuals win the show's talent contest week after week for many weeks. Their hit single So Tough is awesome to hear their hot harmonies in person. The tune becomes a huge regional hit that we hear on Dallas' top Rock radio stations The Mighty 11-90 KLIF-1190 and Wonderful KBOX-1480. KLIF is mighty big in Dallas and KBOX truly is wonderful. In later years I become a newscaster on both of those top notch radio stations. From time to time you read my mention of the Fabulous Fifties that refers to the 1950s. Well, the 1950s really are fabulous. Can write a book about those majestic days. Today is absolutely no comparison to that time in our lives. You have to be there to remember how great they are. During that period I have two wonderful doggies (Sparkie and Lady), a parakeet (Pete) and a pet chicken hen by the name of Betty. Blackjack is the wonderful horse that I ride out in the country on a farm. Can write many words of joy about those magnificent animals.

JOHN HALE (Austin-Cedar Park, TX)
Jim, Regarding Sara Chester's suggestion that you need to "get a life" because you include Tejas' name on the newsletter...If this is her soapbox, I'd suggest that SHE get a life, and leave you and your newsletter and your byline to the scads of us who appreciate you and Tejas. I've said it before and I'll say it again...it's YOUR newsletter and you can include mention of anyone and any pet you see fit to. If Sara's that perturbed by it, she has the option of NOT reading your newsletter. Case closed. Yours Truly, John Hale; Mobile Magic Music; (33.Music) "We're at the best parties!"

WALTER HAMMOCK (Houston, TX) Hey Jim would you remind Sara that no one is forcing her to read JRRR? Just like with radio she can switch channels if she doesn't like it. Frankly her whining is irritating, she needs a shrink.

CHARLES DICKENS (February 7, 1812-1870) A man in public life expects to be sneered at - it is the fault of his elevated situation and not of himself.
