ALL THE NEWS THAT IS NEWS
RADIO GARGANTUA TEAM UP AGAIN In January 2009 when the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles enter the NFC playoff picture, both Sports Radio stations WFAN-660 in New York, NY and WIP-610 in Philadelphia, PA join in joint simulcasts of their home town teams. Los Angeles, CA R&B vocal quartet Portrait's 1993 hit Here We Go Again and Steely Dan's 1973 smash Do It Again certainly applies for the next big event. We say that because WFAN NYC and WIP Philadelphia do it again. Both radio stations join broadcasts for yet another timeless sports playoff scene as the NY Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies go head to head for the 2009 World Series baseball playoff action that begins on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at what many call the cathedral of baseball, Yankee Stadium. For the 10th time in the past 12 years, the Yanks win the AL East with a major league best 103 wins. They show up for their 40th Fall Classic as they attempt a freakish 27th World Series title with a return to the World Series for the first time since 2003 when it falls after six games to the Florida Marlins. For the first time in team history, the Phillies want to also become the first repeat champion since the Cincinnati Reds' Big Red Machine teams in 1975-76. In the 105th edition of the World Series, Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts call the action on WFAN. Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow are the sports voices on WIP. MLB fans hear the simulcast streams on www.wfan.com and www.610wip.com.

BORDER MEDIA MAKES CHANGES Rumors indicate that three Border Media radio stations in Austin, TX may switch from Spanish language to English formats. The stations are KHHL FM (La Ley 98.9) and KXXS FM/KXBT FM (Digital 92.5/104.9). Also, understand that in addition to Director of Programming, Josh Villa, all DJs from the three radio stations are already gone. Radio Online suggests that two of the stations make changes: KXBT FM flips to ESPN Sports and KKHL FM becomes an Oldies outlet. NetGnomes says that KXBT FM's new moniker is 104.9 The Horn in favor of the Texas Longhorns. On Wednesday, October 27, 2009 KXBT registers www.1049thehorn.com/. Simmons Media, the owner of crosstown KZNX-1530 (ESPN 1530) announces that its local programming moves to 104.9 on Monday, November 2nd. KZNX continues to carry the national ESPN feed. Contact Josh Villa at josuevilla@gmail.com.

DANNY SALAS [Erik] (Fresno, CA) Hi Jim, Sure, feel free to sign me up for a subscription to your newsletter. And that would be great if you mentioned the news of my departure in Friday's issue. You can include my email address
ESalas518@hotmail.com and cell number (559) 355-3767 as well. Thanks again for reaching out, I really appreciate it. Erik "Danny" SalasCHAD EVERSON (Minneapolis-St Cloud-Princeton, MN) Mr. Jim Rose, Jen from Frogtown Records suggested that I contact you. We have an online radio network we call WGGRN.com, or Grizzly Groundswell Radio Network. We offer a service to let conservative radio show hosts host a show on our radio show accounts. We now have over 40+ conservative hosts from all across the nation hosting shows for us. Jen suggested you as a possible host for us. She suggested that with all your experience a music show format may be ideal with some good old music pumping and getting our listeners singing along. Now since this is podcast, we need to make sure we have permission to play the music or ensure the music is pod safe, or copyright free. So this hinders us a bit in our play list. However, I am sure you are used to working with such limitations. Jen shared with me that you had one of the biggest dj shows before the industry went through all the growing pains. This is very exciting and I hope you take me up on this invitation. We can help you get set up and learn the technology if you are not already up on it. There is a bit of cost involved as www.skype.com is the suggested way to call into the shows since it is a long distance call to New York. It has the best sound quality and is really cheap! I pray you consider exploring this invitation. Even though this is a volunteer position, I pray you would find a lot of reward sharing you knowledge and expertise with our listeners and our fellow members. It would be great to have on board someone so in tune with the industry. I and my members could learn a ton! Thanks for your consideration, Chad Everson, President, Theodore Media LLC
JOHN DARREN LEE (New Orleans-Ponchatoula, LA) I heard about your email list (JRRR) from Chad Everson at Grizzly Groundswell WGGRN.com and then went to check out your web column. :) I have only been in radio on an amateur basis, but I have a weekly running radio show on www.blogtalkradio.com called The Neo & Wim Show since February 2008. It's broadcast every Sunday from 9:00 PM CST to 10:30PM CST. The link is www.blogtalkradio.com/neowimshow. It's a show on current events, entertainment, etc. Pretty much anything Pop Culture and Current Events with irreverent twists and occasional interviews with interesting people. Recently, I have started another weekly radio show on WGGRN.com's Tyranny Resistance Radio called Sunday Night Freedom Fight, a political show, which also utilizes blogtalkradio. Broadcast live every Sunday from 11PM CST to 1AM CST on www.blogtalkradio.com/thetyrannyresistance.

RICHARD FOGLEMAN (Waco, Texas) Hey Jim, I first worked at radio station KBUS-AM in Mexia, Texas. I also worked at KAND-AM in Corsicana and KWTX FM/AM part time/weekends. I worked in various stations in the Nacogdoches area until I went to work for KTRE-TV in Lufkin. I was in the production department there. At that point I was told to get a "real" job by my mom and put my double major to work and went into social work and started for the state of Texas. All of this was in the late 70’s and the 80’s. I have found your "remembering radio" stuff very informative and brings back lots of memories. I look forward to reading it regularly and not just when you mention Mexia or Waco. Thanks, Richard Fogleman
