FORMER BEATLES REGROUP With a little help from their friends, Ringo Starr recruits Paul McCartney for their new album Y Not which hits store shelves on January 12th, 2010. Paul joins Ringo on a couple of tracks of the album. Their first single from the album Walk With Me has McCartney and Starr as duos. This is Ringo’s first album since Liverpool 8 in 2008. Other guest artists and songwriters on Y Not include Joe Walsh, Joss Stone, Van Dyke Parks, Ben Harper and Richard Marx. In a press release, Ringo talks about joint efforts with his old Beatles mate, Paul was doing the Grammys, so he came over to the house and was playing bass on ‘Peace Dream.’ So I played him this other track and Paul said, ‘Give me the headphones. Give me a pair of cans.’ And he went to the mike and he just invented that part where he follows on my vocal. That was all Paul McCartney, and there could be nothing better.
TRIVIA QUESTION: Who has the first version of Chubby Checkers' 1960 dance tune, The Twist? The answer appears below.

KEITH FARR (Lodi Lake, CA) For years I have been trying to get in contact with Jerry Litteral...only finding that he used the last name as "Houston". When I saw the Oregon obituary which gave his full name and location (Irvine). I was shocked! If this man is the same person, we started together in 1957-8 In Ontario, Oregon and Payette Idaho. Since those beginnings we lost contact. Mainly because I didn't know where he was located. If possible: Please can you send me a photo or connect me with his wife or family? Greatly appreciated. I believe that it's Jerry. We are the same age as well. Respectfully, Keith B. Farr (ret.) Broadcast Productions; Documentaries ~ Film; Northern California; Bay Area Broadcasters KRE Museum
keithbfarr@earthlink.netJOYCE WEBSTER (J.C.) (Mena, AR) Jim. My brother was a young man when he passed away...only 53 of a sudden heart attack. He had been battling a problem with the prostate and then the bladder for years. It was a nightmare for him, and he had to cath himself all the time. He developed so many health issues and had to keep working because he was turned down for S.S.D. Received notice he had been approved two weeks after his death. He had worked at Dallas Power & Light for 20 years before leaving there due to his health issues, and had contributed the entire time to his retirement. He couldn't draw it until he was 55...so his ex-wife who was a horrible person...truly, drew all the benefits from all his years of work and saving. Very sad. However, my brother is in a better place and not worried about it at all. He had really suffered enough! He had a GREAT voice, and sang with a Southern Gospel quartet for a few years. He could sing anything, of course. I'm from a family of singers...but, my brother was by far better than me or my sister!!! Well...I have a thousand things I need to be doing so best get back to it! Take care, my friend. JC

ED CHANDLER (Houston-Katy, TX) So sad to hear of the passing of Dean Hallam tonight. He was a real radio junkie. Not many like him left today. RIP my friend. Yesterday at 11:22pm.
JAY NOBLE (Dallas-Flower Mound, TX) Dene Hallam passed away last night at 10:28. His friendship, personality and programming genius will be missed by all. His untimely passing will truly be missed by all of us in The Moby in the Morning radio family. Rest in peace my friend.
MIKE SHANNON (Dallas-Mesquite, TX) Hi Jim! First, sorry to have missed your birthday, but hoping you'll accept a "belated" happy birthday wish! Second, sorry as well that we never made contact at the Texas Radio Hall of Fame a couple of weeks back. I guess I was too busy taking photos for their website. Next, I saw someone's reference here to the movie "Pirate Radio"--For anyone who's interested in the Pirate Radio concept in general, visit www.thehificlub.net/affiliates.html and load up last week's "Hi-Fi Club" radio show (11/15/09,) where I interviewed real-life former pirate radio jock Johnny Drake! Find out the REAL story. (www.knus99.com/)
