EMAILS YES WE HAVE EMAIL SAM LEE [Walter] (Beverly Hills, CA) Subject: News you can use. Hi Jim: Most of the time I send you funny news. This is an FYI. I talked to Cuz Lennie today. He says he's doing better after having a stoke. He's currently at the Heritage Gardens Hospital in Carrollton, TX and does not have a release date as of yet. The address is 2135 N Denton Dr; Carrollton, TX 75006. I'm unclear if he's in the hospital part or the nursing home section. You know, Jim I was his newsman (KLIF-1190) for almost two years and I didn't recognize his voice at first. Please ask everyone to pray for him and send a get well card. I told him Scott and the rest of us would work hard to see him and you get into the Hall of Fame next year. Thanks, Bro: Peace, Blessings & Grace, Sam Lee, KLIF News; The Zeitgeist Corporation; Beverly Hills, CA (www.ZeitgeistCorp.org)
AUGUST 16, 1977 Do you remember what you are doing on that date? On that very same day I'm on I-10 heading to Houston, TX to move here because of my new position in radio as a DJ on KIKK FM (95.7). As I tune around on the radio dial to try to pick up KIKK something scratches through that I find hard to believe. Elvis Presley is dead! Oh no! This cannot be true! Over 30 years after his death The King of Rock'n'Roll still brings in millions of dollars. In 2009, Elvis generates more than $60 million in revenue from royalties, licensing and Graceland's operations. Also in 2009, attendance at Graceland is 542,728 which we all know is the tourist attraction in Memphis, TN that features a tour of Elvis' home and grave. Since its opening in February 2010, Viva Elvis, a live Cirque du Soleil show that is based on Presley's life is a hit in Las Vegas, NV. On July 29, 2010 more than 400 theaters nationwide show the remastered film Elvis on Tour: 75th Anniversary Celebration. According to Jack Soden, president and CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Elvis' Facebook fan page has 1 million fans. Its website gets an average of 700,000 visitors each month. To us Elvis Presley fans he is still alive in our hearts and minds.

TRIVIA QUESTION: Neil Sedaka writes and sings the song Oh! Carol for what Carol? The answer appears below.
MARY HENDERSON [Cuzzin' Lennie's wife] (DFW-Carrollton, TX) Subject: How is Cuz. Hi Sam, Yes he did get the card and was thrilled to get it. He had to show it to everyone at the nursing home and tell them all about you. He has his good days and some really not good days. His memory is really going but he seems to remember things that happened a long time ago. He told everyone about your working together and all about KLIF (1190) and all the people there and they are all enthralled, but he doesn't remember if I have been there yesterday or not and I go every day. I do his laundry and take him food from home because you know nursing home and hospital food can leave a lot to be desired. He is only about 2 miles from the house. (mine) You know he has lived with me for the past 2 years so I could take care of him. But every now and then he wants me to take him back to Kathleen street to see his house but of course he can't go. He doesn't walk anymore and doesn't go to the radio station anymore. I am doing his show now and it's still the Cousin Lennie show but everyone knows he won't be back. Of course on the air, we always say he'll be back soon. He sleeps a lot and only participates in activities when they MAKE him. (cantankerous) The doctors say he could last a while longer but his memory will soon be gone. After all I think he's in his 80's but I'm not sure. He laughs and says he has lied so much about his age he doesn't really know how old he is. And I haven't been able to locate a birth certificate. But I'm not too worried, for right now I have power of attorney over him and he is getting the best care they can give him. At least I won't let anything bad happen to him and since I am there every day they don't have much chance anyway. I already went through this same thing with my mother so I know what to watch out for. Anyway, I guess that's about it for now. And thank you so much for the card. maryann

DAVID PERKINS (Fort Worth, TX) Subject: WBAP. Hey Jimbo, when Tom Ellis of Newton, Mass emailed you about being in his 70s, growing up in the Big Thicket and listening to WBAP I remembered, as a kid growing up here in Fort Worth, listening to Ted Gulde do the stock markets (as in cows and bulls) at noon on WBAP. Well, one day he called! On the request line when I was on the air. He thought it was the main switchboard at WBAP (that's when we were on Broadcast Hill) and started to hang up. BUT not before I told him what a big fan I had been of his. Made my day, my year and almost my career! (Only talking with Bob Wills on that same WBAP request line and meeting Pete Conrad, the astronaut when I was on KPRC in Houston was...maybe...better!) PS a note to you young DJs. Take pictures when you meet someone famous. I wish I had some pix of me with some of those old country music guys and gals I met along the way.
