EMAILS YES WE HAVE EMAIL JIM TRAVIS [Jo] (Hot Springs, AR) Subject: A move back to TX? Yes it's true Jim, I will be doing mornings on KBEY. I was going to let you know today. As you know, the stations were bought a few weeks back by Gary Moss. The AM station will be Sports from ESPN. As it stands now, both mornings and afternoons will be live. The station is now located in Marble Falls, which is great for me as I have a daughter living there. Gary is in the process of moving into a new building and putting in all new stuff. Now, he also has the daunting task of teaching an old dog new tricks. It can be done; it just takes a little bit longer. Plus, I have to leave Jo here in Arkansas with her legions of four-legged friends until I can find someplace that will put up with her, not to mention the friends. Talk about a daunting task! MSNBC SAYS OLBERMANN IS WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD MSNBC News suspends indefinitely without pay Keith Olbermann because he makes campaign contributions to three Democratic candidates during the latest election cycle. MSNBC president Phil Griffin's incisive statement to the press tells it all, I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay. On Friday, November 5, 2010 Politico reports that Olbermann donates $2,400 each to two Arizona representatives, Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords, as well as Senate contender Jack Conway in Kentucky which is in violation of NBC News policy. Before his announced suspension, Olbermann tells Politico, I did not privately or publicly encourage anyone else to donate to these campaigns nor to any others in this election or any previous ones, nor have I previously donated to any political campaign at any level. Olbermann is a harsh critic of News Corporation's donations to the Republican Governors Association plus there is concern that his campaign contributions not only undermine those arguments but his attacks on spending by independent groups that do not have to disclose their donors. Chris Hayes, an often on-air contributor to MSNBC News takes Olbermann's place on Friday night.

INGRAHAM RESIGNS WITH FOX MediaBistro reports that popular Talk Radio Network nationally syndicated political commentator, Laura Ingraham, signs a new multi-year deal with Fox News for big bucks. Laura appears on Fox cable news as a regular contributor. She is the primary guest host on the top rated O'Reilly Factor. Roger Ailes, Fox News CEO, brags: I am glad Laura has re-signed with Fox. She is a great talent. She’s very smart, with searing insights, and she has a terrific sense of humor. Ingraham chimes in: I'm absolutely thrilled to be continuing my career in political analysis and commentary on Fox News. There is no other place on cable with a more dedicated team of professionals at every level, and it is this commitment to excellence that makes me most proud to call Fox News home. Laura's new pact with Fox News reaches seven figures.
TRIVIA QUESTION: When does John Daly interrupt CBS network programming to announce that the Japanese have bombed Pearl Harbor? The answer appears below.

HANK WILLIAMS (Austin, TX) Subject: news tip. Jim: Here's a 'news tip' which might be worth checking out for your next newsletter. My sources tell me longtime Austin broadcaster Jim Travis is returning to the air in central Texas. On December 15, 2010 he is to begin doing the morning show on KBEY-FM out of Burnet, Texas. The station, with a classic Country format, is at 92.5 FM. - Henry Williams, Austin, TX U.S.A.

LESLIE WAYNE HODGES (Marshall, TX) Subject: Ray & Ram. Jim, I have not seen any thing on Ray Lincoln from you. Did you hear Ray on the air or work with him? Ray Lincoln of Ray & Ram on WOAI / KARN. what can you tell me about Ray & Ram Ray Lincoln? I sure would like to have his air checks. rays show gave me a positive lift. I know for a short while Roger WWW Garrett hired Ray Lincoln away from Arkansas to be on air in Austin KHFI. Ray Lincoln after WOAI in the mid late 1970's was on KRZI in Waco. I enjoyed listening to Ray Lincoln and his other voice Ram on WOAI 1973 through 1975. I could hear Ray Lincoln in Midland, Texas and Clovis, New Mexico. From what I have read I think Ray got his start while in the Air Force about 1968 where he might have been first on the air in Portales and or Raton, New Mexico. Where Jimmy Gilmer is from it is written. Does KHFI still have their on air homecoming days where the talent from the past returns to "DO IT AGAIN" (Steely Dan)? CHARLES GEORGE (Dallas, TX) Hi, I just bought a book, Violin For Dummies. I hate anything that calls a person a dummy but I needed a book to help me, even though, I already can read music to some extent from playing the guitar and mandolin. I knew a person who liked KRMH though I thought K98 was a better station. Like I always liked KFAD better than KNUS. I was visiting KPPC-FM and I mentioned KNUS and the two announcers there both said, "Gordon McLendon he is a real Liberal..." It was in the basement of the Pasadena Presbyterian Church. I noticed Mitch Ryder had signed the wall and so had Paul Revere and others. Charles George
TRIVIA ANSWER: On December 7, 1941 John Daly of CBS News interrupts network programming to announce that the Japanese have attacked Pearl Harbor. CBS experimental TV station WCBW in NYC goes on the air with a nine-hour broadcast with news about the attack in Hawaii. This is the first television news instant special. All during the war, CBS broadcasts nearly 35,700 programs about America's war effort.
DAN MCCURDY (Sherman-Denison, TX) Subject: Laus Deo...Jim...thought you might find this interesting...many folks, I would imagine, might not be aware of the Latin translation of your tag "Laus Deo" much less the seminal literal references in countless locations throughout Washington, D.C. 'Praise be to God!' In God We Trust! LAUS DEO! - Dan McCurdy, Sherman, Texas; 2004 Texas Radio Hall of Fame inductee; KLIF, KBOX - Dallas; WMEX - Boston; retired Fortune 500 advertising/PR exec; freelance writer, voice talent
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (1564-1616) Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones.
Jim Rose and Lacy
Houston, Texas - Laus Deo
